We want to say thank you to the wedding industry and those who have supported us during this season of transition. We have received DOZENS of emails from people asking how they can help and if they can work out a way to move into our operations and ultimately buy us out or operate our business.

The concern for us, our family, our staff and clients has been a bright light in this hard season. Not everyone has been so gracious (it has been kind of terrible haha) but the problem solvers and people who care has been heart warming!

I want to be clear and save you time. We already tried that. We exhausted all measures to make this smooth for our couples. This was a very hard decision and we did the best we could and feel proud of that.

Our building has been for sale, we pay rent, we do not own the building. In the beginning we had the option to sell our business with a lease attached separately but the owners decided against that very recently which forced us to start thinking differently in September. They do not want to be landlords so we do not have the option to sell the business as it is here anymore.

With this recent change, we cannot take the risk of continuing to book clients knowing we may not have the option to stay with the new owners or the option to sell. Weddings here have notoriously booked 16-24 months out. It would not be fair to any of our weddings next year either knowing it could sell at any point. We also felt finding a new location was only going to upset our clients further, our space here at 1883 is unique and a story we believed in. We know it cannot be repeated.

At this time we are working with lawyers to find the best way to liquidate when we close and if you are interested in any of our tables, chairs, decor etc. we will post that info for an auction or sale when we get closer. At this time we can’t sell anything outright because we may have to file bankruptcy for legal protection. Please do not reach out individually about buying anything. We would appreciate you helping spread the word when the time comes to share the link for our auction/sale.

You all have only confirmed that what we created here was truly something amazing.

We regret to inform you we have decided it is in the best interest of our clients in 2025, our staff, and family that we shut down our business after December 22nd 2024.

There are many matters that lead us to this decision but we stand on our commitment to try and make the transition as smooth as possible. At this time we are seeking legal counsel on how to best maneuver and care for our clients, staff and family as we prepare to close.

Our clients have all been made aware for 2025 and have been communicated that their non-refundable retainers will not be returned at this time. We are actively working with a lawyer to come up with the best solutions we can for those affected. Despite our contract stating retainers are non-refundable we have done our due diligence to take care of the clients and partnered with BTTS who has graciously offered to move their retainers towards any of their 8 venues and to accommodate our pricing structure at their venues as best as possible. We are really grateful that they have been able to give our clients an option. We do understand how emotional losing your wedding venue can be and we too grieve with them and understand.

This decision was not taken lightly and we firmly believe it is in the best interest of all involved. We are heartbroken it had to come down to this very difficult decision. With that being said we are still fully operating until December 22nd and want to do our best to serve clients and events until then. No part of this decision will impact any of our events held here at 1883 before December 22nd.

We do still have availability for small events like birthday parties, bridal parties, and more and will be running those at half-off. We are going to work hard to serve with the excellence we have always strived for and finish strong.

We appreciate your support as our clients, staff, and family go through this very difficult season.
