ILLUSION THEATER has reached the end of our free outdoor series, LIVE at Lyndale Gardens. ☹️ But the good news is tonight (Wednesday, August 28) at 6:30pm is Malamanya! 😊 Put on your dancing shoes and enjoy this Afro-Caribbean band with music for your dancing soul. Special night this week - Tuesday, August 20 at 7pm - a double header of "History-on-a-Schtick" and "Honeywine."
History-on-a-Schtick usually only seen at the State Fair, commissioned by The Minnesota History Center and the State Fair Foundation, written and directed by longtime ILLUSION Artistic Associate Beth Gilleland with musical direction by Kevin Dutcher. Honeywine an all-original trio Dorian Chalmers, Becky Schlegel, and Dennis Curley step on the stage to share their pure, sweet Americana sound.

Dan is familiar to many as a pianist, accordionist, storyteller, and writer of shows for public radio, clubs, and theater. Did you know he grew up in Richfield in the '60s and '70s? Join Dan and two other stellar Richfield musicians, both from legendary musical families – vocalist-radio host Patty Peterson and performer-educator Denny Malmberg as they walk us through their Richfield baby boomer childhoods and share stories about the people, places, and songs that inspired them.
Dan, Patty and Denny wanted to do this show as much as you wanted to see it! We are excited to announce "Growing Up Richfield" with Denny Malmberg, Patty Peterson, and Dan Chouinard is on for this Sunday, August 18 at 2pm. These are some of the busiest performers in the Twin Cities. Hope you can join them for the stories about the people, places, and songs that inspired them during their Richfield baby boomer childhoods.

Prudence Johnson, legendary Twin Cities vocalist, kicks off this free summer series at The Amphitheater at Lyndale Gardens (6400 Lyndale Avenue South, Richfield). Prudence performs with Yazmin, an accomplished pianist, vocalist, dancer, teacher, and award-winning singer-songwriter and painter based in Northern Wisconsin. They are joined by the band Beat Zero. Treat yourself to a jazz and Latin infused evening and you may be moved to move.

"Our Big Fat Eventual Wedding" with Allison and Leslie Vincent has been rescheduled to Tuesday, August 29 at 7pm (rescheduled due to weather last week). And "Malamanya," a fan favorite with Afro-Caribbean music for your soul, is back this year on Wednesday, August 30 with a 6:30pm start.

Another two show week at Illusion. Outside. Live at Lyndale Gardens. Tuesday brings a new band for us, The South Side Big Band with classic big band sounds of '30s and '40s. Wednesday brings "Far Away Places" with Bradley Greenwald, Dan Chouinard, Prudence Johnson, and T. Mychael Rambo. A show themed on wandering the world with stories and songs from these musical friends and travelers. As always, these are free events.
