Booking a venue is one of the biggest steps when planning a wedding or other event. So here's what you need to know. 👇

Venues are typically booked at least one year in advance. Keep in mind the more popular the venue, the larger the city, and how many venues are in your area can make booking even further out. If you are looking for a more expedited date try calling and asking what days they have left.

The more popular dates may be taken but they could have had a cancellation or a random weekend that never got booked. It is common that Fridays or Sundays have more availability compared to Saturdays that tend to book out first. Winter months are also a good time to find open dates. If you can wait or plan far in advance it can give you the most choice on your date.

When looking for a wedding venue, it can be overwhelming when thinking about what specifics to look for. Here are 3 things you may forget to keep an eye out for, but are certainly important.

🚗Parking
The last thing anyone wants to worry about is trying to find a place to park. So double-check that the venue has ample parking for all your guests. Also, think about overnight parking. Some guests might be planning to call an Uber or taxi home and come back to get their car the next day. Lastly, keep in mind your guests would not appreciate parking in a field of grass that is soggy from the rain the day before or walking on gravel in heels.

💡Interior Lighting
The interior lighting of a venue makes or breaks the ambiance for your space. You are most likely spending a lot of money on this special day and want great pictures to remember it. Keep the lighting in mind so all the photos you will be taking at the reception turn out great.

🍽Catering
Everyone talks about the food at a wedding. So keep in mind that some venues only allow a few caterers or have the option to use on-site catering. This is a great question to ask when choosing a venue because food is often one of the largest expenses.

Everyone assumes you have to have a spring or fall wedding, but that is not true! There are a lot of advantages to winter wedding dates. Winter weddings are less stressful for a variety of reasons. Some of those include lower prices, more availability, catering and vendor prices drop, no humidity, and pictures in the snow are fabulous!

Rock Your Red! Wear red today to spread awareness for heart disease in women. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in women, but is 80% preventable.
