Richmond Jazz Society Presents: Trumpeter Drew Ashby. RVA trumpeter Drew Ashby took skills learned from his father- pianist/composer Ashby Anderson – and honed them into a budding career in NYC where he studied with noted Jazz artists like Charles Tolliver, Reggie Workman and Wynton Marsalis. He has also performed with a diverse set of musicians including Solange, Talib Kweli and Ulysses Owens, Jr. Drew is also the leader of his own ensemble “Newtet”. Their approach is fresh and features an eclectic blend of traditional acoustic Jazz married with electronic touches and grooves from today’s contemporary music scene. Welcome Generation Next!
