Two weeks ago, a few of our team members were recognized as the best of the best in the tourism and hospitality industries at the Ordinary Awards hosted by the Virginia Restaurant Lodging and Travel Association. Brad Jones (Hilton Short Pump) and Aquila Darden (Hilton Short Pump) were selected as finalists and Andrew Vaccarella (Hilton Virginia Beach) won Restaurant Manager of the Year. Way to go everyone!

In support of recruitment initiatives for Chesterfield County Public Schools, and to further invigorate cultural diversity in our schools, Shamin Hotels generously donated 240 hotel room nights at the Doubletree Midlothian to the Foundation to assist in relocation of new teachers from 9 Countries in August 2023.

Our August Associate spotlight goes to Muktar who is a front desk clerk at one of our Maryland properties. Muktar has been doing a great job at the hotel and we are so thrilled to have him on board!
Our DoubleTree Midlothian Hotel recently won 3rd place in the Doubletree Service Bracket Challenge for the 2nd quarter 2023. The General Manager said “we could not have done this without the dedication and commitment by every single associate at our hotel. Congratulations and keep up the outstanding work”.

Congratulations to our 2021 Rookie of the Year, Brooke Bollman from Hilton Garden Inn Virginia Beach Oceanfront! Brooke returned to the HGI family as the Assistant General Manager in February of 2021 after a couple of years away. She started her career with our property as a front desk agent in 2018 and has held several positions at Shamin Hotels. Brooke embraces the TOP (Team Up, Own It, Passionately Serve) culture in every aspect. She collaborates with the department heads to ensure they have clear lines of communication and support and ensures everyone is set up for success. She embraced the responsibility and even through challenging times, she handled every difficulty with grace and maturity. She is a true Rockstar and Rookie of the Year! Congratulations, Brooke!

Erin Baker, Front Desk Manager at Hampton Inn Hull St, sat down and shared some of her thoughts about TOP culture and Shamin's company culture.
We sat down with Kenya, the Front Desk Assistant Manager at Sheraton Richmond Airport Hotel. Kenya has been with Shamin Hotels for 20 years. She began her career as a waitress and has held just about every position except for maintenance. "The guests who come in know us by name, and we treat them like family. That's what I love the most about working for Shamin Hotels- the family atmosphere. It's not just a job. The owners of Shamin Hotels will help you outside of work. They know our families. I know it might sound cliche, but we are just one big family. I love my job," explained Kenya. It is our associates like Kenya who make Shamin Hotels a very special place, not just for our guests, but for our teammates as well. The Shamin Cares fund represents the very best of our company culture. Shamin Cares is an emergency fund that provides relief to our associates during times of need. Recently when a Shamin associate experienced a devastating fire that resulted in the hospitalization of her and her children, it was important to us, as a company, to do what we could to help. We are honored to be in a position where we can take care of our associates in times of need. Our team gives 110% to create an outstanding experience for our guests and it's important that we take care of our associates in the same way.
Yesterday, the Shamin Hotels team was able to celebrate our 2022 Awards Ceremony in person for the first time in 2 years. The room was full of friendly, familiar faces, and laughter as we celebrated the accomplishments we’ve achieved together. Our team is resilient and continues to go above and beyond for our guests, and we couldn’t be more proud. A huge congratulations to our 2022 Award Winners. To our entire team, thank you.
