The AC isn’t working in our Monroe Park location, so I’ll be at the river the next few days. It’s going to be hot as hell this week, so we’ll take this opportunity to close up shop and do some scheduled maintenance. Stay cool and hydrated. Not sure how many years we’ve gone to the Fur Ball, but we look forward to it every year❤️

When pets sheltered at our Robins-Starr Humane Center need lifesaving veterinary intervention, our Cinderella Fund guarantees them the care they need to go on to better lives in new, loving homes. Each fall this fund is replenished at our Fur Ball, presented this year by Dominion Energy.

A masterful, soulful talent, a smooth crooner who owned the American playbook. The guy Sinatra praised and deeply admired.

I have a story about Tony Bennett. When the CenterStage Performing Arts Center opened downtown a few years ago, I was offered a space to run a specialty coffee and dessert kiosk in the lobby. It was a great gig and I was so grateful for the opportunity.
Tony Bennett was performing one night, so I arrived really early to get everything ready for the show. I was waiting for coffee to brew, and I heard some music playing in the theatre, and peeked inside. There was Tony and his band rehearsing and warming up for the show. The theatre was empty. So, I quietly walked in with my eyes on Tony, and took a seat. I was an audience of ONE. I was absolutely mesmerized. Then the music stopped and he looked at me and said “How do we sound Honey?” OMG.

I said “You sound fabulous Mr Bennett!!” “Ok good, thanks sweetheart!”
If only I had been able to call my parents who were a little older than him, but from the same generation. Holy cannoli, that was a night. 🥰🎼🎤

The pair became famous for drastically different musical styles but found friendship and musical fulfillment in singing jazz together. They recorded two albums together and maintained their partnership even after Bennett’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis.

Well, tonight is the night! We open for the 19th year for Gardenfest of Lights at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. We’ll be there in our usual and awesome spot in the carriage house and Children’s garden. Open every night at 4:30pm, closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. See you soon!

The 18th Richmond Folk Festival begins tomorrow, Friday, October 7, and runs for three days full of more music, food, and fun than you can imagine. And the festival will go on, rain or shine!

With six stages and nearly 90 performances, many people plan to spend more than one day at the festival. Add in more than 30 food vendors, a crafts marketplace, a Virginia Folklife Area & Stage, and one of the most beautiful festival sites in Richmond, and we think you’ll want to go for multiple days to experience as much as possible.
