Mark your calendars! We just signed up to make our first appearance of 2025 at the Church Hill Spring Fest and Market in Libby Hill Park on Saturday, May 10 (noon to 4). This will be our 3rd year at this great festival (with great views of RVA). This photo from mid May 2024 gives you a glimpse of what fresh flowers will be in bloom!! Gorgeous plump peonies, luscious dark leaves of purple smoke bush, purple false indigo, nigella and yarrow! Can hardly wait……

Happy Valentine’s Day! Love, love, LOVE the amaryllis display currently giving quite the show in my living room. Amaryllis grow in so many different blossom shapes and sizes….. what a special treat to have all three of these unique blooms blooming at the same time. Left to right are: La Paz, Pierrot, and Red Pearl.

Let’s try this post again with all the pictures this time! This week we get a distraction from all the noise and we turn our attention to love ! Yes, Friday is Valentine’s Day. If your LOVE loves flowers and plants, Barb’s Blooms has two everlasting gift ideas to help you shower your love with love. 1) Living wreaths….lemongrass or jasmine wreaths intertwined with live pothos clippings. 2) What to do with all those Mason jar lids from last season’s jar bouquets? Meet Stella…..my 2 year old constant companion. Adopted on 9/11/24, she has helped to mend my broken heart after losing my beloved Blossom in early August. She is quite a shy girl but so sweet after she gets to know and trust you. She was adopted through the WONDERFUL organization. They were so great to work with. She loves dancing to James Brown, sleeping with her head on my shoulder, and milk bones!

It’s this Saturday! The handmade art and gift sale with botanicals from and pottery from g-girl pottery .fitzgerald1 10 AM to 2 PM 2212 Jefferson Ave. in Church Hill. A portion of proceeds from the sales will go to the GoFundMe recovery efforts for our friends
We will have dried eucalyptus wreaths, dried amaranth stems, dried flower vased arrangements and so much more.

Still Blooming! This exceptionally warm fall has yet to deliver frost in my neck of the woods. While cutting is very scarce….there are still (and other friends) out there to be enjoyed.

Usually by this time of the year we have had our first frost and dried flowers are our only option. Fortunately we are still blooming and will have these fresh long lasting at tomorrow’s Tip of the Season Market in Westover Hills (near on Forest Hill Avenue) from 10 am until 4pm. We will have okra ornaments, lots of dried flowers and only two pairs left of these amazing golden gourd earrings. Our market friend Mo purchased a pair at the last a couple of weeks ago. I am DEFINITELY keeping one pair for my personal earring collection. Get there early to claim your pair!

If you are in RVA this weekend you simply must stop into the for the exhibition. I was giddy to see so many dried and painted okra pods tucked into these exquisite arrangements inspired by amazing works of art. The exhibit ends on Sunday. I always have fun with my dear friend Anita who is a fellow gardener.
