Summer wedding

Every wedding I work on is a dream come true, yet this particular wedding felt extra special.

I love the detail K & P put into planning their wedding day. From the pieces of family history on display in K's photography mantle design to the bud vases from Ireland that held minature white Roses, light blue Tweedia, and Thistle.

'Something blue' was woven throughout the day, from the satin bouquet ribbon that held K's family charms, to the dusty blue Hydrangeas, linen choice in the ballroom, and even the details on the guest stationary (to name a few highlights).

One of the best moments was hearing from K when she entered the ballroom, it was then I knew everything she envisioned was realized. Thank you to Jill C. for her help designing this wedding.

Gorgeous photos from Fantasy Flash Studios. In particular, I love the ceremony photos and the reflection of the stain glass in their church.

Cheers to K & P!

Elegant Summertime Celebration-

The table was set beautifully with Pink and Purple Dahlias from Holland, fragrant Lilies, and a custom dinner prepared by Gallo Ridgefield. The beautiful fan menus provided by stood out along with the butterfly guest placecards.

No doubt the votives and walkway lanterns will be sparkling long into the evening, picking up on the lovely edged glassware and other sparkling details in this thoughtfully designed summer celebration.

Wishing you a happy weekend!

The Story Behind "Something Blue"

Why not bring your "Something blue" into your wedding day flowers?

Delphinium, dusty blue Hydrangea, sky blue Tweedia, Thistle and Cornflower, or Bachelor's Button are beautiful flower choices for a spring or summer wedding.

The "Something old, Something new, Something borrowed, Something blue, Sixpence in the shoe," was part of an old English rhyme to help the bride remember all she needed for her wedding day and in the future.

Today's bride is free to create her own magic. Blending as much tradition or present moment to build something uniquely hers. I love when a bride adds elements of family history into their wedding day. How you personalize your wedding style is up to your creativity.

Luck, prosperity, and future happiness are not found in any rhyme. Following your heart is still the best Compass Rose when making decisions.

Sunshine and Blue Skies..

This yellow and blue wedding color palette works perfectly for a Springtime or Summer wedding celebration.

These lovely photos from CT Photo Group - CT Wedding Photography capture the special feeling of L & Rs wedding at Le Chateau in South Salem, New York.

The flowers feel fresh, bright and sunny like the start of something uniquely beautiful. This elegantly casual color combination looks flattering with Dusty Miller, Navy and even sky blue accent colors.

I love Ls attention to detail, as seen in her beautiful vintage style bud vase seating plan, her linen accent color napkins and even the bridesmaids dress color choice, everything tied together harmoniously.

The stunning yellow Tulips, Dusty blue Hydrangeas, Delphinium, and cream colored Peonies were a stand out wedding flower combination and at the same time, as natural as sunshine and blue skies.

Please enjoy a few photos from this gorgeous wedding day!

Leading Man-Boutonnierres and Pocket Squares

Through the ages, flowers have been packed with symbolism and personal meaning. I like to think of the Boutonnierre and Pocket Square as a small but important statement piece. The white Rose, a symbol of loyalty, is a perfect wedding day choice.

A Pocket Square is a fun twist on traditional wedding flower expectations. In that sense, it is a modern choice and slightly whimsical, with flowers reaching out of the suit jacket pocket. Here, lighter flowers like Wax Flower, Delphinium and minature Roses work well.

Floral pieces are an important nod to the wedding party style. Whether you are planning a classic romantic wedding, modern chic or rustic charm wedding, the flowers you select will allow you to achieve the vibe you love gracefully.

Hello Summertime!

Nothing more cheerful than buttercup colored Roses paired with vibrant farm grown Snapdragons from Jill C.'s garden at Horseshoe Farm in Ridgefield, Connecticut.

This low, lush wedding centerpiece works beautifully in the Le Chateau ballroom setting where colors show so well. The Roses are complete show stoppers in my opinion! The greenery and ferns are from my home garden. I love using natural elements in my floral designs.

I've added new content to my Instagram page to make each and every wedding we work on the best one yet.

Thank you for sharing in the creativity!

Wedding Invitations & Flat Lay Design-

I recently traveled to Boston and enjoyed seeing Isabella Gardener's desk and her beautifully preserved letters at The Isabella Stewart Gardener Museum. It was incredible to step back in time through the gracious sweep of her cursive script.

Michelle Oliver, owner of INK Fine Stationery in Ridgefield, Connecticut shared a few pointers when selecting wedding invitations. Chiefly, paper weight, ink color, and design elements should all tie together reflecting your wedding style.

The questions Michelle asks couples sounds similar to the way I begin my floral consult about wedding flowers. She recommends considering your wedding day 'color story' the paper textures you are drawn to as well as, whether you are interested in adding a floral or architectural detail on your invitations?

One of the benefits of sitting down with a stationery professional is they have hundreds of invitation samples you can hold in your hands. Additionally, they work with a variety of printers that have a range of capabilities from classic letter and ink press techniques to Thermography design.

Traditionaly the weight of stationery carries a sense of formality, this also applies to the color ink you select. Darker being seen as more formal. I love the idea of selecting your ink color based on where you are getting married. For our waterfront wedding, we chose a deep navy blue ink on ecru paper for our guest invitations.

The enjoyable part of wedding planning, from the florals to the stationery to the music is the aspect of personal design. Visualizing your ideal wedding day is a great way to get started! And that starts with the invitation design you send out to family and friends.

Happy planning!

Elements of Design-

Bridesmaids Bouquets..

Your wedding day is a symphony moment in your life. The bride is the "home sound" and her bridesmaids surround her in love, faith, and support amplifying strength and friendship.

The bridesmaid bouquets are the motive-a short, instantly recognizable melody. Whatever your style, Romantic Classic, Modern Chic, or Wild Rustic, deciding on your wedding 'color story,' choice flowers, seasonality and even the textures you are drawn to is a strong note to begin planning your bouquets on.

Whether you favor bright and bold colorful statement arrangements, or softer toned harmonies, designing your bridesmaids bouquets can be a joyful creative experience keeping essential elements of design in mind.

Wedding Cake Essentials-

According to DiMare Pastry in Stamford, the two key elements to keep in mind when planning your wedding cake is design and flavor. I think keeping essentials in mind helps in every aspect of wedding planning.

I love hearing about what clients envision for their cake applique. Most frequently, Roses, Ranunculus, and Lisianthus with greenery are the main flourish requests. Hydrangea looks beautiful too. Sweet details like including a favorite pup on the cake bring instant smiles.

Amanda, professional baker and owner of Little Bo Sweets shared her wedding cake planning with me. Honoring her Italian side Amanda selected chocolate cake with cannoli filling and yellow cake with Dulche de Leche as a nod to her new family and their Hispanic heritage. In this way, she blended the old with the new to create a beautiful new flavor everyone would enjoy.

For my summer wedding, raspberry fruit cake filling with buttercream frosting were must haves. Candles surrounded our cake table with long stem white Roses and Eucalyptus. Little did I know, it is standard practice to try up to ten cake flavors when selecting your wedding cake!

Cheers to sweet moments,
Meta

Romantic, elegant wedding at Le Chateau in South Salem, New York.

Airy, dark greenery contrasted beautifully with white Ranunculus and Roses. The classic elements of A & B's wedding day shined with joy.

High and low centerpiece arrangements were illuminated with floating candles and Mercury Glass votives in the beautiful, expansive ballroom.

The bride and groom had an excellent day for their outdoor ceremony. White clouds peeked through at the perfect photography moment. The design of the ceremony flowers tied in with our style in the ballroom. Queen Ann's Lace, Roses and Stock danced out from the center.

I cannot wait to see all the wedding day photography from , their editorial, romantic style fit the couple perfectly!

Thank you to Jill and Kelley, the design and setup of this wedding was made possible because of your hard work and fun. We make the best team!

Cheers to A & B!

In the Press-

Thank you Cameron, love to see another small woman owned business thriving!

I second what Cameron said about the benefits of being in business for yourself.

Ridge Architecture has all the right ingredients: vision, grit and design integrity. It was a pleasure to be a part of the photoshoot experience.

Cameron had a clear plan for the in home flower styling. We ordered unique and one of a kind blooms and large palms.

Nicholas Venezia is truly an editorial photographer. It is a pleasure to see his staging expertise in action.

The biggest kudos go to the family behind this project since they juggled a lot to make this happen.

It was my first time setting up flowers in mudroom, but hopefully not my last!

Cheers to all the details coming together.

From the Hive-

Beautiful morning to be out experiencing the peace of nature at Good Hope Farm in South Salem, New York.

For many flower farmers, this is about the time when everything is getting ready to be planted. There is that mix of excitement and anticipation knowing we broke the long frost.

The three varieties of Daffodil in this week's delivery have varying degrees of sunshine tones from warm butter to vivid orange. I love the simple twine bow and clear glass vase to bring a little warmth inside.

I've started researching how to start your own cut flower garden for a friend. Always a good idea to stretch and grow what you know related to gardening. As many of you know, I'm all about my Hydrangeas.

We are in wedding count down for L & R! And could not be happier to kick off our season at one of our favorite venues, Le Chateau in South Salem, New York.

Wishing you moments of peace outdoors whether it's a small gardening project or a walking meditation by a field of Daffodils. Be surprised by the beauty of small moments.

Enjoy flower friends,

From the Hive-

Gardening is truly a metaphor for our life journey.

This time of year, I find myself comparing notes on growing with other gardeners. What's taking over and what needs to be cleared out is on everyone's mind.

While early in the season, there is an opportunity to add a pop of color to your garden or container planters. I found these beautiful flower choices at Site One in Greenwich.

You'll often hear me say, "Flowers are my happy place," it's true, whether I'm planning a wedding or working on a new planting project, it all brings me so much joy.

This past week I completed a window box and planter project focusing on Springtime favorites-daffodils, pansies, and mini Hyacinth varieties. What are you planting this Spring?

Please enjoy a few photos from the field.

Enjoy, flower friends!

Hello Springtime!

I was fortunate to listen to Kim Kelly speak about planting native wildflowers at Grace Farm in New Canaan, Connecticut.

Kim is working on rehabilitation the GF grounds and is knowledgeable about what we should be doing on the homefront to restore our ecosystems and encourage bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.

It's true, our zone has changed to 6B due to climate change, what's considered native is also evolving. Kim pointed out that we're seeing insects in CT that were once only found in VA. It's a lot to process but she emphasizes that our planting choices can make a huge impact.

I loved her reference to the first signs of Spring wildflowers as-"little exclamation points" and "little mother nature surprises" her philosophy of gardening is clearly one of enjoying and exploring.

If you're not sure what to plant or which flowers benefit bees most, hop on Go Botany and do a little research. If you feel pressed for time, I suggest container gardening. It's a great first step and brings aesthetic satisfaction to your surroundings.

Happy Spring flower friends!

Wedding Season is fast approaching..

*****

Almost a year on average goes into planning a wedding, that's why having a seamless wedding day is in fact possible.

All the small details have been carefully thought through by the team you selected to deliver your wedding day experience.

While we're busily setting up, it's moments like this one pictured below that make me smile. How many times in your life do you get to have all the people you love in one place? Weddings are magical in this way.

*****
Looking ahead, we have two Springtime weddings coming up in April and May. Tomorrow I will confirm our April wedding flower order and this is always an amazing moment. It means our design is in motion! Our wedding day 'color story' approved, vases selected and delivered. The wedding flower concept is moving to the next level and that is truly an exciting moment.

*****
We are working on returning wedding flower requests this week. I wish I was a little faster on this piece, but I do love to dream about flowers and each proposal design is new. Anything done with love and genuine care takes time.

Enjoy signs of spring this week!

Birthday Bouquet Bar- 💐

Such a lovely way to celebrate with hands on creativity. We worked together to select the bright, cheerful color palette and flowers for our Bouquet Bar.

Everything looked happy and inviting in the barn, just as a special birthday with friends should feel. There is nothing like spending time together to celebrate and make something beautiful side by side.

I look forward to seeing all the unique flower arrangements! Arranging flowers is a lot like cooking from your favorite recipe, there's no way to get it wrong and joy is always the end result.

Happy birthday! ⚘️

Everything about this soft color palette and textured floral design lit up the dining space with warmth and love.

C. & I selected two styles for our guest tables, lush-low centerpieces for the modern booth dining area and gathered bud vases for our family style tables.

Natural candlelight and beautiful black and white newborn photography highlighted the the beauty of the day.

Preparing for the Western CT Youth Orchestra benefit @ Lounsbury House.

Of course, we had to use the orchestra's signature colors for our arrangements, Delphinium blue and gold. I can't think of a more important life skill than being able to express yourself creatively.

Thank you to the wonderful teachers that shape musicians and encourage their creative spirit. I am so pleased to be a small part of this fundraising event.

Winter Wedding-Rye, New York

Dramatic Calla Lilies and two varieties of white Roses, warm candlelight and the historic ballroom setting where Barbara and George H.W. Bush celebrated their wedding- this winter wedding was one of a kind.

Everything about the bride's minimalist design was flawless. She did an amazing job representing the old and the new, conveying both substance and beauty and most importantly, creating an atmosphere of ease for friends and family to gather in celebration.

I love understated elegance, something that makes you look twice in appreciation. This wedding is unmatched in its simplicity of style. The monochromatic palette is clean, airy, classic and bold.

The best compliment was hearing from P., that she was happy with everything!

I love the candid photogtaph I took of her a few moments before they headed to their church in Greenwich. Her Calla Lily bouquet is just gorgeous with the special ribbon wrap detailing. The light was perfect, even the soft winter wind that picked up her veil and carried it away.

The church itself is an incredible worship space. Designed by Manhattan architect firm Burr Salvatore, a sense of modern space and beauty is fused with traditional worship form.

We lined the church aisle with white candles and placed two statement arrangements on the altar.

Cheers to P. & J., merry indeed, Xo!

Wonderful way to end our wedding season.

Winterberry, greenery, pinecones, vibrant Ranunculus, Crimson Spray Roses, classic Amaryllis, white Hydrangea, and Magnolia leaves were featured in the holiday arrangements we created for this event.

With over one hundred arrangements, and forty-three tables, this was by far our largest celebration yet! Please enjoy these photos. Thank you to on the team who worked so hard to make last night shine.

Luxetoucheventrentals, another small women owned business, provided the floral backdrop we needed. Joanna, everything was perfect for the red carpet entrance. Thank you!

Time is the most precious thing we can give each other this season ❤️.
