I invite you to take a listen, and be sure to follow Scott and No More Bad Events!

HOW TO HAVE A HEALTHY CREATIVE BRAINSTORM:

On inventing the lightbulb, Thomas Edison said "I have not failed, I simply found 1,000 ideas that won't work."

Don't be afraid to throw out any idea because you worry it could be bad.

Don't be afraid to point out why any idea is bad because you don't want to offend your teammate.

Don't take it as an affront or insult if your idea is criticized - it is not us against each other, it is us against the challenge, working together to find the ideal solution.

Every criticism is good - because it helps us, as a team, find out what won't work quickly.

Every idea, even the bad ones, are good - because eliminating ideas that won't work gets us closer to those that will.

We're like Goldilocks, trying out each bed until we find the one that's just right.

And on the way we even get to enjoy some nice porridge and a big comfy chair.

Branding folks will tell you that your company name may be the most critical decision you make when launching your company.

Xerox is famed for having spent $30MM on their logo and branding redesign, which resulted in what amounts to a stylized "X" (for Xerox, you see).

Kodak was named because George Eastman took phonetics common to all known languages around the world and created a word anyone worldwide could pronounce. (Talk about optimism)

Along the lines of the bar band that named themselves "Free Beer," ("This Thursday at McGillicuddy's, FREE BEER!") I got a spam call from my new favorite company name today:

"Local Chimney Sweep, Inc." Doesn't matter where they're from, with a name like that people are hooked by the idea that they are doing business with a local small company.

What company names stick out in your mind for creativity?

Sports Licensing - the ability to use professional sports logos, names, and teams on your products - can be a revenue driver like none other.

But it is a complicated, challenging process.

If you don't have the Connections, Aptitude, Knowledge and Experience, it can almost seem like it's designed to use up all your time and money just to get approved!

That's where Barnburner comes in. We take the C.A.K.E. (see what we did there?)

Just ask BT Swim, who came to Barnburner for help licensing for their line of pool supply products.

Licensing management for the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL and NASCAR through to actual production of product in 6 months?

No problem!

YOU CAN HAVE TWO OF THE THREE: FAST, CHEAP or GOOD.

"There is Fast, Cheap And Good. You can pick two."

We've all heard that old client-expectation-leveling phrase. But what does it really mean for your company?

Has sports marketing evolved into today's landscape?

When you look at the most recognizable sports marketing campaigns, it's all broadcast, OOH, print, spokesmanship, licensing... But in 2016, there is a whole landscape out there that has not been tapped by the sports marketing world.

It's about fan engagement now. With twitter, fans are used to a direct line into celebrities. Getting contact.

Successful campaigns that actually drive behavior change and transfer fan passion to brand passion should involve interactivity.

Now, that doesn't mean just digital interactive, but ways fans can get involved, "in the game," if you will. Millennial Consumers don't want to ride the bench, they want to have their say. Papa John's has significantly more brand recognition thanks to Peyton, so you cannot totally discount traditional media, but for smaller buys there will be way more power for the budget in activations that get fans to be a part of something bigger than them, to have a voice in the activation, and be a part of something that connects them to other fans, other consumers and the athletes that figurehead the campaign.
