Good morning
BBQ folks
Just wanted to wish all our friends, family and those who are spending their Thanksgiving away from home. Might be on deployment, stationed overseas as they are defending our way of life and our freedom. Thanks and you are remembered and today as we give thanks we ask that everyone reflect on what has been sacrificed and given for us to have such a day as today. Democracy, not socialism, communism or any other ism was given for us to have to enjoy such as Thanksgiving day. Please be safe and reflect on what has been given to all of us.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING

This is just an example of what is going on with food prices 😔. Our prices are going to have to be adjusted. This is not what we want to do but have to. Also our menu will be revamped.

Before we start this post, we want to make it clear that we have not raised ANY of our prices, and this also isn’t directed toward anyone, as we rarely receive comments about our pricing. This is simply meant to educate and show support for our fellow restaurant owners who are also feeling the inflation at the grocery store.

We all know the cost of groceries has gone up, but it’s not just consumers feeling the pinch. Restaurants are, too. We and so many other small business owners do everything we can to keep things affordable, but if we don’t charge appropriately, you’d quickly have no restaurants left to patronize.

For example, this is a brisket we purchased last week. When we opened 18 months ago, Prime brisket averaged around $4.20/lb. Now? It’s up to $6.38/lb. 🤯

Once trimmed, cooked, and properly rendered, that 20lb brisket has about a 40–50% yield, leaving just 8–10lbs of edible meat. That means our actual cost is more like $13/lb right off the top — before factoring in rubs, sauces, wood pellets, utilities, packaging, labor, and overhead.

In the restaurant industry, prices should be roughly 300% of cost to make a modest profit and cover the countless expenses that come with operating a restaurant.. and sometimes, that’s still not enough!

As a consumer, you might not think about these things, or even want to, but it’s the cold, hard truth. Eating at a restaurant is a luxury. A luxury that we, as restaurant owners often can’t even afford ourselves. For some, it’s a once-a-month treat; for others, it’s a few times a week. And frankly, it’s becoming more and more of a luxury for folks, ourselves included!

But just like you, restaurant owners are feeling the squeeze too, and can only absorb so much of the rising costs before some of it has to trickle down.

We appreciate everyone who continues to show up for local restaurants. Your support means more than you know; to us and to every small business trying to stay afloat. 💚

Good VETERANS DAY bbq Folks.
Deb and I want to wish all our fellow veterans a joyful and a big ole THANKFUL salute for your service and sacrifice each of you made. The best part is that to defend our constitution in the oath we took many years ago STILL has not released us from our obligations. 🇺🇸

Good morning
BBQ FOLKS
We wish you all a fantastic Labor day holiday. As we haven't made a post update for a while, we have been busy as Deb's mom is transitioning from her apartment to a new residence which will allow her to enjoy a new chapter in her life. Jan, Deb's mom is a very resilient individual and is a precious part of our life. We haven't made a definite decision yet on when we will be back to Sandridge and get back to our BBQ but will keep you updated as soon as we can. Have a wonderful holiday, be safe and please remember to help each other out along the way.

Good afternoon
BBQ FOLKS
Well since arriving in South Dakota we have been taking care of Deb's mother after falling and breaking a vertebra in her back. She has been released from the hospital and in rehab, which we or I should say Deb is with her everyday. We hope everyone is doing well and sure miss visiting with you. I have been playing with a new product,"Pig Shot". Sausage, bacon used as a base then stuffed with cream cheese, rub and cheese. Topped with a slice of jalapeno. This is smoked and drizzled with honey. They are pretty good, even if I don't mind saying so 😁.

The weekend is on🎉 and ohh yeah the heat as well. But it's all good and we're here on the lot next to the Lebanon Quick Stop until around 6 PM or we run out of food. We do have a limited amount of our mouth watering bbq and sides still available so stop on by. We want to thank everyone who has supported us this year, especially with the ups and downs with our equipment but as we say....the folks from these parts are the greatest.... Have a great and safe summer and will look forward to seeing you this fall. Don't forget to help each other out along the way and make it a very special day.
