HISTORY OF THE IVY VERANDA
Dr. James H. Team built this lovely Colonial Revival in 1905. It sits nestled among the tree-lined streets and turn-of-the-century homes in historic downtown Ridgeway. Named for the ivy entwining the veranda, it beckons family and guests to enjoy a taste of Southern hospitality. The home has been meticulously restored. The eclectic decor mixes unexpected pieces to fantas

tic effect. The colorful rooms, adorned with art, marry old and new, antique and contemporary, and serious and fanciful. Elegant antique chairs and settees upholstered in white and placed on the veranda give a glimpse of the surprises inside. The house sits on 1.1 acres of land, has 3,672 square feet, and is a 4x4 design, meaning that there are 4 rooms downstairs with 4 rooms upstairs. It contains 8 original fireplaces, plaster walls, handsome molding and picture railing. There are glass blown windows and wonderful heart pine floors. During its 112-year history it has served as the home of the town doctor, mayor, an antique store and even a Christmas tree lot. It is now home to Mayor Charlene N. Herring and husband Roger D. Herring.
