Good news, bad news.

The good: I got home from a short work trip yesterday and was so excited to see how fluffy the zinnias had gotten. They were not wrong about giving them time to mature to see them get like this. Rows and rows of petals. I have been cutting them too early for the last few years and missing out.

The bad: See those pink spots on the first couple pics? It’s Botrytis Cinerea. A fungus that could potentially decimate the whole plant. So these will all have to be cut down. It’s on the roses too. It do be like that sometimes.

Fun fact: In researching what was going on with my plants I learned that fungi have 2 stages of reproduction: sexual and asexual. The telemorphic/sexual (as opposed to anamorphic/asexual) stage of this same fungus is the very aptly named Botryotinia F**keliana. You can say that again!

Chicken wire for the win. That’s what’s holding these lil beauties together and in water. They held up great in the intense heat and humidity. I was a little worried about the hydrangea and the basil but they hung tough!

I won’t be at the market tomorrow because I’ll be working on flowers for THIS EVENT! This looks like a super good time for a great cause. For a fun filled Saturday first check out the Montgomery Friends of Open Space Farmers’ Market at the Montgomery Twp Municipal Center on Community Drive in Skillman between 10am and 1pm where you can enjoy a performance by Ja-Tun & Random Acts of Soul and then head to Unionville Vineyards in Ringoes at 3pm to shake what your mama gave ya 💃🏻 with me! I’ll be back at the market the following Sunday 7/20th!!
