Horicon Bank Ripon Summer Concert Series

The Horicon Bank Ripon Summer Concert Series takes place at the Village Green in downtown Ripon, WI. The Village Green, located at 103 W. Ripon Main Street, Inc.

Seward Street in downtown Ripon, is owned and operated by Ripon Main Street, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to restoring the economic vitality of downtown Ripon. The green space was donated to Ripon Main Street in December 1995 by M&I Bank following their acquisition of Valley Bank which was located adjacent to the park. Main Street commissioned architect Rick Schroeder, AIA in 1996 to

design a bandstand for the new entertainment space. Doug Lyke, a former president of Ripon Main Street, and his wife Audrey donated the funds to build the structure making the Village Green and bandstand a reality. Local contractors completed the construction project in time for the start of the 1996 summer concert season. Prior to this, bands preformed on flatbed trailers or hay wagons. In the years since, Ripon Main Street has partnered with the Ripon Rotary Club on various park improvement projects. A new landscaped entrance at the intersection was added in 2013, a handicap assessable ramp and the east bandstand entrance off Watson Street were installed in 2014, and new electrical services and stage lighting were installed in >>> to make the facility more accommodating for larger performances. In addition, numerous individuals purchased/adopted bricks helping raise additional funds for beautification. The Ripon Summer Concert Series has grown since its inception in 1993 and now encompasses a wide range of musical genres including country, blues, rock and other styles. Most concerts area free to the public. The concerts take place on Friday evenings (June through August) from 7:00 to 10:00 pm. Participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. NO CARRY-INs are allowed in the park. Local businesses typically sponsor the music series, but additional donations are always needed. The Horicon Bank Ripon Summer Concert Series is back for its 31st season, bringing another incredible lineup of live music to historic downtown Ripon, Wisconsin. Several community favorites have been signed including Star Six Nine, Road Trip, Cherry Pie, Madison County, and The Glam Band. In addition, several new bands have been added to the schedule, and we are working with agents to bring in another national recording artist.

The FREE concerts, which are organized by Ripon Main Street, Inc., take place at the Village Green located at the corner of Watson and Seward Street. The park opens at 6:00 pm on most Friday nights, with music generally starting at 7:00 pm. A variety of beverages are available, and participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. ABSOLUTELY NO CARRY-INs are allowed in the park, beverage sales help cover entertainment expenses.

The events and activities organized by Ripon Main Street make our community a vibrant place to live, work, and play—from hosting concerts, WineWalks, and other community events, to supporting local businesses and working with property owners to preserve the integrity of the historic district.

The Horicon Bank Ripon Summer Concert Series closes out its milestone 30th season this Friday, September 20 with a special performance by Wisconsin’s premier party band Smart Mouth. This free concert will take place at the Village Green in downtown Ripon, kicking off at 7:00 PM.

Smart Mouth specializes in delivering the biggest hits from 2000 to today, offering a playlist packed with 100% Billboard chart-toppers. Since their formation in 2010, The Jimmys have become a staple in the Blues and R&B scene, captivating audiences across the Midwest, Canada, Europe, and the Caribbean. Horicon Bank Ripon Summer Concert Series presents a special bonus concert this Saturday (Aug. 31) featuring national recording artist 10 Years, an American rock band from Knoxville, TN.

10 Years has built a formidable catalog over the years, starting with their gold-selling 2005 breakthrough album The Autumn Effect which yielded the hit “Wasteland,” which has received over 125 million plays on Spotify alone. They also landed three Top 30 Billboard entries from their next two releases including “Beautiful” from Division [2008], along with “Shoot It Out” and “Fix Me” from Feeding the Wolves [2010]. The band is currently touring throughout the United States to promote their new release “Rise.”

Horicon Bank Ripon Summer Concert Series

Season 1 - June 17, 1994

Special thanks to Andy Gallun for uncovering this video, possibly from our very first concert. The evening showcased Esprit de Corp (later renamed 3rd Degree), which included members from the Del Ray's. Back in Season 1, things were pretty simple—a small flatbed trailer served as our stage, with just a couple of halogen lights to set the mood. The night also featured a custom car show to help draw in a crowd and "fill space." In those early days, attendance varied from 50 to 250 people per event.

Over the years, a lot has changed. Depending on the weather and the band's popularity, anywhere from 500 to over 2,500 people might attend on any given evening, with over 10,000 guests enjoying the series throughout the summer.

The Village Green has been transformed into a respectable outdoor performance venue thanks to the generous contributions of many. The Lyke family donated the bandstand, Pericles Financial Services provided the pergola, and Ripon Main Street, Inc. purchased and expanded the property to create the park. Additionally, countless individuals have donated benches, tables, flower planters, bricks, and more.

Every summer, the streets of downtown Ripon, Wisconsin are filled with the sound of music. Week after week, we are treated to an outstanding line-up of Blues, Rock, Country and other music styles in a quaint outdoor setting. The 2024 series is guaranteed to feature another fantastic lineup. In addition, we are working with agents to bring in another national recording artist. Ripon Summer Concert Series featuring Whiskey River 1994 Historic Downtown Ripon, Wisconsin Organized by Ripon Main Street, Inc. www.downtownripon.com We didn’t have a stage at the Village Green back in the early days. Every Friday we would go to Modern Pole Builders to pick up a trailer. Our biggest concert of the season back then was always Whiskey River. How times have changed!

Horicon Bank Ripon Summer Concert Series

Ripon Main Street, Inc. invites you to enjoy an evening of entertainment in historic downtown Ripon and discover what makes our community so special. The Horicon Bank Ripon Summer Concert Series encompasses a wide range of musical genres including country, blues, classic rock and other styles, and is free to the public. Concerts run from 7:00 to 10:00 pm and take place in Historic Downtown Ripon near the corner of Watson and Seward Street. Participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on.
