Reggae Retreat & Pond Party
our friend Mighty Mystic and his phenomenal band will be at Sky High Reggae Retreat & Pond Party - 3rd Annual this year and we are very much looking forward to their performance and presence
We are excited for the 3rd annual Reggae Retreat & Pond Party. We are blessed to host this intimate event at Indigo Mountain Farm in Floyd County - June 22. This will be a family friendly retreat with over 12 hours of music. We will have two sound systems, a world class musical line up, camping, pond swimming, bonfire, food & artisan vendors and a kids area. Full announcement and tickets on sale April 24th. Purdue University found us and wrote a grant with Sky High Reggae because they believe in the power of roots reggae music to unite and transform - we are very grateful - details below & our video montage submission for the grant
"Kaitlyn Vasilko, president of the student organization the Westville Warriors and undergraduate senior in the Honors College majoring in Behavioral Sciences at Purdue University Northwest (PNW), earned a service-learning grant from the Purdue University Office of Service-Learning to work with Sky High Reggae (SHR) a non-profit dedicated to promoting multicultural community connections by ensuring access to reggae music that centers on global healing. SHR helps build up reggae artists, minority business owners, other non-profit organizations, and community members through art events, concerts, and classes all with a focus on cultural awareness. SHR aims to “enrich lives through music”. They also partner with local schools to provide access to art supplies to “empower youth through supporting creative expression.” With the grant, Kaitlyn will work with her faculty mentor Professor Heather Augustyn and her Westville Warriors team to further research on the cultural and societal impact of reggae music and lyricism. This grant will allow Kaitlyn and the Westville Warriors to learn from SHR, create marketing to spread knowledge on this topic, and promote understanding of the history of ska and reggae through community events. To begin the collaboration, Kaitlyn and the Westville Warriors hosted a One Love Poetry Slam at PNW’s Westville Campus. The Warriors showed a video montage created by Sky High Reggae at the poetry event."
