Meet some of our Winter Festival 2025 undergraduate interns!

In recent years, the Winter Festival of New Works has become a chance for our graduate and undergraduate theatre programs to collaborate more closely. This year, ten undergrad interns have been working hard in everything from scenic construction to marketing!

Frieda opens today at 7:30 pm, and will run through Sunday, January 19th. Don't miss your chance to see what our interns have been up to!

Frieda wanders through a near-lifeless forest, searching for a way out. The stepmother of two challenging children, she recounts the desperate hunger that drove her to make the most important decision of her life.

This January, Hollins University's Playwright's Lab and Mill Mountain Theatre present the 2025 Winter Festival of New Works!

We kick off next weekend with Frieda, a one-woman play by ArLynn Parker. Frieda will run Thursday the 16th - Saturday the 18th at 7:30pm and close on Sunday the 19th at 2pm.

Nupital Mass by Ben Abbott opens the very next weekend, running January 23, 24, and 25 at 7:30, closing on Sunday the 26th at 2pm!

Admission is $10, with tickets available at the door or online via the link in our bio. Current Hollins students, faculty, and staff get in free!

Take a peek into the classroom for one of our foundational theatre courses: Theatrical Design with Savannah Bower, Arne Johnson, Michael Mansfield, and Moneé Stamp!

Course Description: This introductory course will take you through the visual landscape of theatre design. Explore the processes, technologies, and aesthetics of costume, scenery, and lighting design through historical and contemporary theatre practice. Enjoy the collaborative process with fellow students as you enter the world of the play through visual imagery to create production elements that reflect a cohesive artistic vision inspired by the script.
