🎃 Happy Samhain / Halloween! We're so excited to add these delicious ‘Hakurei’ turnips to our catalog this year.

💫 We recently learned that early Celtic celebrations of Samhain, the Celtic new year, involved carving Jack-O-Lanterns out of TURNIPS rather than pumpkins! While these surely weren't ‘Hakurei’ turnips in the British Isles back in the day, we reckon the soft, creamy ‘Hakurei’ would be a good place to start if you want to try your hand at turnip carving.

👻 So here's a spooky season shout out to ‘Hakurei’. They're a great cool season crop and you can eat 'em raw - like seriously, right out of the ground while harvesting is at least one Driftless Seeds' growers’ favorite way to eat them.

🥗 For a more refined dining experience, you can wash them off and slice them raw into salads or sauté them with other veggies – delish!

The spooky October full Moon—in one week, on Thursday, October 17—is known by its nickname, the Hunter's Moon, which appears low and looks especially large on the horizon.
