With Easter fast approaching, you’re probably like many folks out there that are planning on celebrating this special occasion by sharing a glass of wine with family and friends over a scrumptious feast. If that’s the case, here are some tips from ONEHOPE Wine on how to find good wines for Easter, along with some food pairing ideas. Enjoy!
Remember, when it comes to food pairings, there isn’t any rules. These are just a few suggestions from our fellow sisters at ONEHOPE in Napa valley. Ultimately, the wine that you and your family and friends like the best will be the right choice for the Easter table.
For Starters
Welcome your guests with some light appetizers and maybe a glass of sparkling wine to lighten the mood. Try ONEHOPE’s California Brut Sparkling Wine — light in color with aromas of fresh green apple, nectarine, and fresh baked bread.
Rack of Lamb
Roasted or grilled, lamb is strong in flavor and goes well with a rich Cab, like OHEHOPE’s California Cabernet Sauvignon — a remarkably broody wine displaying aromas of baked blackberry and deep cassis. Loads of roasted coffee and cocoa notes fill the palate, along with hints of sage and paprika.
Glazed Ham
Glazed ham is synonymous with sweet and sour flavors and calls for a red wine with low tannins and high acid. Pour ONEHOPE’s California Pinot Noir — with bright cherries, strawberries, and hints of violet pastille and cola. The fruit is layered with fresh soil notes of earth and spice.
Roast Chicken
A red wine would be appropriate, like ONEHOPE’s 2008 Sonoma Coast Reserve Syrah — with delicate hints of white pepper and violet —but a great white wine would be nice too. How about the ONEHOPE’s 2011 Santa Barbara Reserve Chardonnay that has zesty citrus notes and stone-fruit such as nectarine, white peach and pear.
Roasted Vegetables
Items like carrots, beets, and sweet onions go well with clean, crisp white wines like ONEHOPE’s California White Blend or Rutherford Estate Sauvignon Blanc. Potato dishes scream for a dry rosé like ONEHOPE’s Eldorado Rosé — bursting with strawberries and hints of juniper, pine resin, and cinnamon spice.
Salad
A wilted frisée salad with light, slightly bitter greens, mustard vinaigrette and Granny Smith apples is perfect paired with ONEHOPE’s California Chardonnay. The apples bring out the hint of apple and pear in the wine, while the vinaigrette offers the perfect touch of acidity to complement the bitterness of the greens.
Dessert
ONEHOPE’s rich and sweet 29 Twelve California Dessert Wine exhibits blackberry compote, quince, sweet to***co, and cardamom flavors, meaning it can pair with almost any decadent treat possible. Don’t forget the chocolate! ONEHOPE’s Syrah has a richness of cherry and blackberry fruits, and a dense, textured mouth-feel that can’t be beat with chocolate.
Don’t be afraid to experiment and to try new ideas and wines.
From your OneHope Family, Cheers 🥂
