Steaming Your Veil: The Dos & Don’ts ✨

A perfectly steamed veil adds that extra touch of elegance to your big day, but it’s important to do it the right way! Here are some helpful tips to make sure your veil looks flawless:

DO:
✔️ Use a steamer, not an iron – A handheld steamer is the safest option to avoid damaging delicate fabrics. Hold it a few inches away from the veil.
✔️ Steam in sections – Gently glide the steamer over your veil in small sections for a smooth, even finish.
✔️ Hang it up – Steaming your veil while it’s hanging helps gravity naturally smooth out any wrinkles.
✔️ Check fabric type – Different fabrics may require different steam settings. Always test on a small, hidden section first!

DON’T:
❌ Don’t steam beading or embellishments – The heat can cause beads or sequins to loosen or melt. Keep the steamer a safe distance from any embellished areas.
❌ Don’t steam the horsehair edge – The heat can distort the shape and stiffness of the horsehair. Keep the steamer away from the edges to maintain that structured look.
❌ Don’t get too close – Steaming too close can cause water spots or distort the fabric.
❌ Avoid excessive heat – High heat can cause delicate fabrics like tulle or lace to burn or melt.
❌ Don’t rush – Be patient! Take your time to ensure every part of your veil is steamed properly for that beautiful, flawless look.

Your wedding stationery sets the tone, but the most important piece of paper? Your marriage license! Believe it or not, around 25% of couples forget to bring theirs on the big day—it’s usually left at the hotel or at home! As a wedding planner, my best tip is to bring it to the rehearsal so you don’t have to think about it on your wedding day.

Planner tip: Choose your witnesses in advance and make sure they know their role! Also, with so many one-day officiants, it’s common they don’t know how to fill out the license properly. That’s where a planner comes in to make sure everything runs smoothly. If you don’t have a hired officiant, make sure someone mails it back within 5 days of your wedding. This is why having a professional officiant like Keri from is a game-changer! She’ll take care of all those important details.

My journey started with fundraising events and concert operations, but I found my true passion in wedding planning. I’m all about luxury events where no detail is left untouched—from ceremony chair spacers to industrial steamers, I’ve got you covered!

When I’m not orchestrating dream weddings, you’ll find me enjoying live music, running marathons (two down, number three is on the way!), paddleboarding on the water, and spending time with my golden retriever, Noah. Previously Abbye was the Director of Event Sales and Media Relations for the Inn on Broadway, an Event Sales Manager at I-Square LLC, and most recently the Marketing and Communication Manager at Bene-Care Inc.

Abbye brings a wealth of experience and a passion for creating unforgettable moments. Inspired by her father’s love for a good party, bringing people together, and sharing moments that will live on in memory, Abbye’s journey in event planning began at a young age and has driven her career ever since.

With a BA in Communication, Media & Journalism from SUNY College at Geneseo, Abbye has honed her skills in meticulous planning, creative problem-solving, and effective communication. Her extensive hands-on experience ensures that every detail is thoughtfully curated and each event is flawlessly executed.

Abbye is committed to making every occasion special. She believes in being a guiding light throughout the planning process, working to bring clients’ dreams to life. PSA: Weddings should be fun! ✨🤍 the wedding planning process can be stressful but at the end of the day it is two people and two families coming together 🥂

Remember to date through the planning process and I don’t mean making your seating chart over a rushed dinner.

Actually date your person and try to remember the reason for the day.

Lastly, planning doesn’t have to be stressful. Whether it is Partial or Full-Service Planning make sure you have some one to bring the vision to life ✨

Wedding Tip: Don’t wait until the last minute! Finish everything up two weeks prior to your big day to ease the stress and enjoy the moments leading up to ‘I do’. Trust me, you’ll thank yourself later! 💍
