We've been working so hard on completing this studio on our property and we're finally done! Because we built this studio with our own hands and basically from scratch, a lot of thought and intentional decisions went into this project to offer the most control, flexibility and natural light! We hosted our first day of minis last weekend and it was everything we hoped it would be. We're so excited to start using this space more, especially during the cold months!

If you're interested, we are doing 15 minute mini sessions for $200 until the end of the year!

If you're a photographer and interested in using the space for your own shoots, we are renting the studio for $50/hour!

I did a family shoot entirely on film (didn't even bring my digital cameras).

It. Was. So. Refreshing. And. Beautiful.

I spent hours with them, starting with breakfast and then doing chores, going on adventures, and doing "mundane", but normal life things as a family.

The idea was to slow things down and eliminate the pressures to "perform in front of the camera" or fit all of your family members' personalities into an hour-long session. That's unrealistic and setting yourself up for underwhelming results.

These guys wanted film photos, but from my perspective it was an opportunity to be super intentional about what, and how I shot the moments in front of me.

I got to see and document each person's unique personalities unfold thru the day and was able to tell a story about what a day in the life of the family looks like... It wasn't forced, directed, or consolidated... It was just them living a normal Saturday life... And getting to relive that in the future is going to be priceless.

A good day.

Photos are important... But they're so easily over-prioritized that they end up losing their authentic potency. I think it's time we reevaluate how we use photos to commemorate moments. Everything has become too staged; too manipulated; too fake. Everything is a production dependent on photos to elevate the perception of the moment.

I want to strip things back and see the beauty in the moment for what it is, instead of trying to make it something it's not.

At the end of the day don't you want to revisit photos that you have an emotional connection with?

First photos from the *almost* completed studio! Cannot wait to start booking shoots here.

1. We're super excited to rent the space out to local photographers - if anyone is interested let us know!

2. We're starting to plan a weekend of mini sessions (family, couples, professional portraits, etc.) for the fall. Christmas cards anyone? Raise your hand if this interests you!

My neighbor recently purchased an old Ural motorcycle and sidecar for himself and his 150lb great Dane. It's the most epic sight.

Joe has a list of fascinating talents and skills as long as my arm including firefighting and falconeering. He may very well be the most interesting man in the world.

My Story

When I started to first discover photography, I never in a million years would have seen myself working so closely with peopleā€™s relationships. Iā€™m actually pretty introverted. For some reason, though, the more I photographed couples, the more I fell in love with it and the more I broke out of my shell. Iā€™m honored to have such an awesome opportunity to not only observe love, in all sorts of forms, but to also participate in peopleā€™s journeyā€™s and adventures, making friends along the way!

As an artist I am inspired by adventure. So, right from the start of things I wanted to always incorporate adventure into what I do. After all, life isnā€™t some staged or perfectly executed play, itā€™s an adventure with twists and turns! I wanted to transfer that same mentality to every session I shoot.

I began shooting while studying cinematography at Huntington University. It only took me two years before I decided college wasnā€™t for me. I wanted to be my own boss, do things creatively and in my own way. So I dropped out and havenā€™t looked back since! That was in 2012. Shortly after I got married to a girl that Iā€™d met in Huntington and really started to push Beanart Photography.

Iā€™ve been blessed with phenomenal clients and amazing experiences which continue to drive me forward, more passionate than ever before. Itā€™s exciting seeing all the new growth and opportunities from year to year.
