Rochester Area Official's Association

The Rochester Area Official's Association strives to recruit and retain individuals whom are interested in the sport of officiating.

In effort to support the Minnesota State High School League and its efforts to recruit and retain sports officials, the Rochester Area Official’s Association is implementing a recruiting effort to inform the public about officiating and the opportunities that officials have to make a positive impact on today’s athletes. If you have an interest in learning more about the sport of officiating we would be more than happy to answer questions and provide information on how to get involved.

We’ve been diligently working on enhancing our website, and we’re excited to share some updates with you. The homepage now features a fresh look and feel. We've also added a New Officials Hub to the main menu, providing easy access to evaluation forms and other resources. Under the football tab, you can now navigate directly to sections like rules and mechanics, videos, and quizzes.

Please note that the site currently offers the best experience on a computer browser. We’re still working on optimizing the iPhone app.

Lee, often referred to as "The Doctor," had a career spanning 45 years. Throughout his career, Lee worked in all five major sports and had the privilege of officiating multiple State Championships.

Congratulations to Mr. Jon Springer on receiving the Minnesota's Rochester Sports Lifetime Achievement Award for 2023. Jon has a long list of accolades including,

• 1993 and 2010 MSHSL Coaches Association Distinguished Service Award
• 2000 ASA Hall of Fame Introduction for Superior Performance and Contribution to Softball.
• Received the 30, 40, and 50 year awards for MSHSL Registered Officials
• MSHSL Award of Merit and 2011 Angelo Giuliani Award MSHSL Baseball Coaches Association
• 2012 Ben Sternberg Award – Rochester Quarterbacks Club for outstanding sports contributions within the Rochester Community
• 2020 Rochester Area Officials Association recognition of going above and beyond in service to RAOA for 50+ years
• Announced November 2023, he will be inducted into the MSHSL Hall of Fame in April 2024
