It's daylight savings this weekend!!🕑..and that means Golden Hour starts an hour later!⁠
⁠
Do you love photos with that signature warm glow when the sunlight turns magical? 🌅

Golden hour occurs roughly the first hour of light after sunrise, and the last hour of light before sunset. When the sun is close to the horizon on a sunny day, it produces that beautiful warm and soft light. ⁠
⁠
Conversely, blue hour happens shortly before sunrise and about 20-30 minutes right after sunset. Because the sun’s position is just below the horizon it produces those cooler tones 🌌

Did you remember that it's daylight savings?⁠

Even though we lose an hour, I love the trade off of having brighter days!🌞

Are you worried about being awkward in front of the camera?⁠
⁠
I've got you covered! Here are 5 tips to keep in mind for picture perfect photos on your wedding day:⁠
⁠
1. Schedule an engagement shoot. The best way to get more comfortable in front of the camera is to schedule an engagement shoot with your wedding photographer. This way you will have a better idea of what to do and how your photographer works by the time your wedding day arrives.⁠
⁠
2. Keep communicating. In the months leading up to your wedding, keep the lines of communication open with your photographer. If you think of a shot you really want or make a change to your timeline, be sure to let your photographer know so that you are both on the same page on your wedding day.⁠
⁠
3. Have a glass of bubbly. If you’re feeling very nervous, have a glass of bubbly with your new spouse to start relaxing and celebrating. Plus, having a glass of champagne in hand makes for a beautiful photo.⁠
⁠
4. Keep the focus on your partner. When you start taking photos, cut everything and everyone else out and just focus on them. Your husband or wife is the person you feel the most relaxed around, so focus on that if you’re feeling nervous.⁠

5. Schedule enough time. Running out of time will make anyone anxious so schedule in enough time for your couple shots.⁠
⁠

I can't believe this....

Four years ago on this very day I photographed my very first wedding!!

Happy Anniversary to this amazing couple that I am forever grateful for. These two put their faith in me and trusted me to capture their day. It was on this day that I realized how much I love photographing weddings. I remember putting so much effort in making sure everything was perfect and I still do the same for every wedding I have the honor to photograph to this day!

And yes... I realize I am posting this very late in the evening of their anniversary but that's because this is my first reel and it took me forever to figure out.

If you're wondering what time your ceremony should start...⁠
⁠
Check the sunset time for your wedding day! Simply type into google “sunset time, {Wedding City} {Wedding Date}”. Use this as the center of your timeline. ⁠
⁠
If you’re having an outdoor ceremony and a first look, you can schedule your ceremony start time up to 1 hour before sunset time for optimal lighting conditions.

The hour before sunset is known as golden hour and allows for those dreamy glowy photos!! ⁠
⁠
If you’re NOT doing a first look, then you will need the time after your ceremony ends to complete Couples Portraits, Family Formals, and Wedding Party Formals before heading to the reception. In this case, you'll want to schedule your ceremony at least 3.5 to 4 hours before sunset to allow for all of these photos to be taken in the best natural light.⁠
⁠
⁠Are you team first look, or are you more traditional wanting to wait for the ceremony. Either one is good!! I'd say my couples are split down the middle on this. I'd love to know what you think 👇

💍Engagement sessions are awesome. Seriously- they're one of my absolute favorite things to photograph because you truly get to be you!

Unlike a wedding day, you get to be completely focused on each other. You get to go to a location of your choice, wear clothes you feel comfortable in, and it's all about you two!

You get to be silly, adventurous, jump into the ocean if that's your thing, go to the scene of your first date, etc. Essentially, you guys just get to let loose and be yourselves!⁠
