As an extension of Latin Goodness Foods, the Foundation is dedicated to empowering our team, with a special focus on immigrant women, their families, and the communities they hold dear. We firmly believe in the transformative power of collective efforts to create a lasting impact.

Based on our internal research, language barriers pose significant challenges for immigrants adapting to life in the US. In response, we established our ESL (English as a Second Language) program. Through this initiative, we pair our employees with English-teaching volunteers. This collaborative effort allows our workers to enhance their language skills, facilitating progress both in their professional and personal lives in the US.

Life as an M’preneur

Margarita Ramos grew up in Colombia playing in the kitchen of her father – the owner of a restaurant featuring typical Colombian food. Food is for her family not just fuel for the body but a chance to taste life. Andy Womack, a native Virginian, has a penchant for both the art and the science behind cooking thus turning himself into a Foodie. Margarita and Andy met and fell in love while both were earning their PhD at Princeton University. Now they are raising their three boys while keeping up with a busy professional life. Finding a healthy but tasty family meal that would fit in between business calls, soccer games and carpools was a challenge. By combining Margarita’s Hispanic roots and Andy’s passion for modern American cuisine they started Al Sur Latin Kitchen and Catering LLC. Al Sur = South of here = Fusion Latin Goodness. By running many iterations of their recipes past their kids, they created their first line of products, “M’panadas”: modern empanadas for people on the go.
