From an early age, I have had a passion for cooking. My mom Bevy, a Ragin' Cajun hailing from the Louisiana bayou was the eldest sister, and often cooked for her large family out of necessity and perfected many humble family recipes. As for my father, he managed and cooked at some of the best restaurants in Virginia. Every Sunday, our small family kitchen was alive with the smells and tastes of all genres of culinary arts. Those Sundays live on in my heart as cherished times where our family and friends bonded with each other and fostered my life-long love for cooking.
I learned (and re-learned) many different time-honored recipes and techniques during my youth, and before long, I was tasked with cooking for most of our extended family gatherings.
During college, I worked at one of the oldest and treasured barbeque restaurants in Central Virginia. There, I learned all aspects of the business: ordering, smoking, cooking and cutting meats, managing an open fire pit, creating sauces, and customer service.
A few years ago, we made a difficult decision to relocate our family from Richmond, Virginia to the Laurel Highlands of Rockwood, Pa. I saw here a unique opportunity to share with our new neighbors and friends my love of cooking. Starting over in a new place, losing my sweet mother far too soon, and a desire to connect with the community ignited an aspiration to open a catering company where my passion to create delicious food could bring together people from all walks of life. So, as a throwback to Sunday suppers, and in dedication to my mom, Copper Kettle Catering was born.
At CKC, our passion is smoking savory meats, but our capabilities extend so much further. We offer several customizable menus, from BBQ and homemade sauces (Eastern & Western North Carolina, Central Virginia), traditional grill work (steaks, chicken, burgers, sausages and dogs), a vast assortment of appetizers and sides, soups and stews such as Brunswick Stew, Award-Winning Chili, Italian Wedding, Zuppa Toscana, and my personal favorite, Bevy’s World-Famous Gumbo.
