Each item is unique, handmade from start to finish, and the most beautiful colors. I spun the wall on my antique spinning wheel and crocheted the yarn into hats and mittens. Isn’t this just the cutest little face! 🥹 Calving season has come early this year. We’ve had 6 calves so far, 4 bulls and 2 heifers. But I can’t get enough of these two little white bulls, they bring me such joy. Excited to see what the rest of this spring has in store.

Farming this time of year isn’t the most beautiful, or fun. But it still is rewarding work. There’s hay to feed, the barnyard to keep clean, winter calves to tag and band, and fat mama cows to keep happy and fed. Looking forward to summer and pasture grazing again.

3) Clare #41 - Heifer, all black. Dexter x Lowline cross. DOB 5/4/21. Should be bred to have first calf spring 2024.

4) Mercy - Cow, all black. Dexter x Lowline cross. DOB 3/22/19. Calved this spring. Should be bred back to calve spring 2024.

5) Goliath - Bull, white with brown markings. Dexter x White Park cross. DOB 5/21/21. He produces beautiful calves and has a calm temperament. (Related to #1 and #2).

Meet Blair!

Meet Blair! Kate and I are on a new adventure by adding this beautiful Scottish Highlander to our herd.

Found an exciting surprise this evening! Look at that face!!! First white calf born on the farm. I’m experimenting with crossbred cattle. This little heifer is a Lowline Aberdeen x White Park.

Calf snuggles!! 🥰 Our first spring calf arrived a couple days ago. Shauna had a sturdy little bull calf. They are so sweet and cute the first few days.

Come and check out all that the Dewing Farm has to offer as part of the Santa’s Sleigh Ride! Friday and Saturday 11/26-27th, 9:00-4:00. Shop local, unique, handcrafted gifts.

Got the cows plowed out so now I can keep the hay pushed in. Grateful to have a roof over them or these little cows would have been buried under all this snow.

Here at the Dewing Farm, we are ready for the spring calving season to start. Cows are happy, and hopefully they’ll be out in pasture in 5-6 weeks.

With three new calves, cleaning the barnyard has become much more difficult! They don’t seem to realize that the skid steer is not something to be messed with. I really have to keep my eyes out for them. 😉

I love seeing the herd come up over hill.

It’s a hot day and the cows are coming in for a refreshing drink. We still don’t have water up on the hill. So I am taking up a couple loads each day.

This 6 day old calf seams a little lost in his first day outside. He started mooing and 3 momma cows came to the rescue. 😆
