Did you know Schwartz's Greenhouse is one of the oldest garden centers in Michigan?

When Henry Schwartz opened Schwartz's Greenhouse in 1939, he started with one greenhouse of vegetables and bedding plants.

The Schwartz family has been growing here ever since, now run by the fourth generation with approximately twelve acres of greenhouses!

Can you believe we’re already in the third week of January? Time flies! But if you’re anything like us, garden season still never seems to get here fast enough 😉

Here’s how we get a head start on our spring gardens in the new year:

🌱 Inventory your existing seeds and toss any that are too old to plant (consider composting them!)

🌱 Clean up your garden tools by sharpening dull blades, making any needed repairs, or replacing old, rusty items.

🌱 Start building DIY garden projects such as raised beds, trellises, etc. This way they’ll be ready when planting time arrives.

This Hidden Gem is the perfect shade of red to brighten up the holidays! We call it “red glitter” because the unique marks on the leaves make it look like the plant is shimmering with gold!
