Lucy's kids have almoat finished!
AT UPDATE…

Griff and Sam have made it out of the 100 Mile Wilderness. I got a very sketchy text from Griffin that they’ve made it to Abol Bridge (mile 2180 with 15 miles to go). I saw a photo of them on a random Appalachian Trail Facebook post the other day, they were enjoying Trail Magic. Tomorrow they are to reach the Khatadin Stream Campground, from there they have 5.2 miles till they summit Mount Khatadin. They expect to summit and finish on Sunday, September 15…. Stay tuned because we’re almost finished.!♥️♥️

If you've talked to Lucy, our office manager, in the last 6 months she's very likely told you about her kids' progress on the Appalachian Trail. Today we found out that Mowgli & Cheeks were featured in a news clip in Bangor, Maine. We thought you might like to see it. As of today, the kids are very ahead of schedule, with only about 114 miles left. We're so proud of them!

For our friends who are grieving today-

Sorrow

Sometimes it's so large
we begin to be pulled under,
so large we believe we will drown
unless the plug is pulled
and it begins to drain away
through unseen pipes that usher it
out of the sad house
and below the neglected lawn
beneath the wide street and traffic,
beyond the traffic light
and the elementary school on the other side.
Underground it slowly, steadily dissipates
into the neighborhood beyond the playground
with its innocents at recess.
For so many years I was one of them.
From the top of the slide
I could spot our beige split-level
and even its flagstone walkway.
I could sometimes make out the silhouette
of my mother retrieving letters
from our mailbox
or out on the front lawn positioning
the oscillating sprinkler.
How good her timing was then,
not leaving it in one place too long
or letting the water wet the sidewalk,
never allowing it to drown
the things she planted.

As we prepare to close for an Independence Day holiday, our Epiphyllum Oxypetalum 'Queen of the Night', Nyx, prepares her own fireworks display.
She only shows her blooms for one night, and she has an incredible knack for doing it on a holiday evening, but we've set up a camera to catch the glory of her unfurling.

Rachel instilled her love of art and all things orchid in Faith, her granddaughter, at a young age. A peek around the shop's walls will showcase a few of her paintings, some even of arrangements from her favorite florist.
