Stay tuned - the Snow Place Like Uptown Roxboro holiday window contest will be starting tomorrow! We are waiting on photos for a couple of entries and voting will go LIVE tomorrow and be open until December 3rd. We will announce this year's winner during the Tree Lighting at Jingle on Main. Be sure to save the date for Jingle on Main this year and join us in Uptown Roxboro for some holiday magic on December 4th from 5:30-8pm. There will be lots of Polar Express themed activities including the FREE showing of "The Polar Express" at the Kirby Theater and Cultural Arts Complex , live performance and DJ Robin Perkins at Merritt Commons, hay rides, barrel train rides, tons of specials from your favorite Uptown Roxboro businesses, more sweet treats than you can eat and plenty of hot chocolate to go around! We can't wait to kick off the holiday season with you in Uptown Roxboro!

There is a cart full of free non-perishable food in front of Dunevant Insurance office (223 N Main St) for anyone who is in need. No caveats, just for people to take whatever they need. There is a huge variety of items donated by Roxboro Baptist Church and various businesses. The cart will remain outside the office until 5pm each day until the items have been claimed.

Uptown Roxboro Group wants to express our thanks to everyone who participated in the Fall Food Truck Rodeo and Vendor Show yesterday! To all of our food trucks, vendors, Animal Protection Society of Person County , business owners who opened their doors, DJ Robin Perkins , Roxboro Police Department, our volunteers, and everyone who came out to shop and enjoy the food trucks....THANK YOU for showing up and showing out for this Uptown Roxboro event! We will do it all again in April 2026!
Until then, we are working on plans for JINGLE ON MAIN so we can all hang out again soon!

Our Story

Uptown Roxboro Group (formerly Roxboro Development Group) is a non-profit responsible for helping the area develop and thrive. RDG has been a member of the North Carolina Main Street Program since 1995 and follows the Main Street approach to economic sustainability by working on developing community partners and resources, design asset development through economic reuse and programming. The N.C. Main Street program assists selected communities across the state in restoring economic vitality to their historic downtowns. Using a comprehensive downtown revitalization process developed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Main Street encourages economic development within the context of historic preservation.

In the Spring of 2017, RDG began a branding initiative including research in the community and in comepeting communities. During the course of the branding reseearch, it became obvious there was confusion with the interchangeable names (Uptown Roxboro Development Group, Roxboro Development Group, Historic Roxboro). The new name effective 2018- Uptown Roxboro Group- is a more accurate reflection of the area and activiteis the group manages.

Uptown Roxboro is developing the art in living. The area has a cozy, urban feel but small town accessibility and safety. It is full of unexpected surprises for a town of it’s size. Farm-to-fork dining and other great family-friendly restaurants, a craft brewery, colorful murals, a thriving arts scene and theater and shopping opportunities from thrift to gift.
