May we mention two keepsakes from Prairiesta 2021 that will be treasured for years to come and available. The 2021 Prairiesta Cookbook and the Souvenir Program Book (chalk full of pioneer Russell history like actual ads from very early Russell newspapers, an article about an Indian scare, and did you know President Theodore Roosevelt came to Russell in 1903 and gave a speech?? Find his remarks in the Program Book.) The Prairiesta Store (corner of Main St & Wisconsin) will be open Thursday, June 17, from 1-5pm (and possibly a couple of days next week if we can round up some volunteers). Lots of items still available if you would like to purchase 2021 Prairiesta souvenirs. The Store accepts cash, check, and credit cards. Thank you for coming to Prairiesta 2021!!! We had an excellent and fun crowd this year! It was amazing having so many come from all around the country to celebrate with us and to have so many familiar faces from Russell out and about celebrating Russell's history and heritage!

It would not of been possible without our volunteers, and all of the businesses and individuals who donated funds for this event because they love Prairiesta and they love our community!

Great events planned for today! Last chance to catch them this Prairiesta:

1pm -The Hometown Short Films were created by Russell High School students under the leadership of RHS alum and teacher, James Martin. They last about half an hour and will be shown at the Dream Theater Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of Prairiesta. Grab some delicious concessions and check them out for $1, which goes directly to the Dream. Don't need a ticket, just bring a buck.

2pm - Jazz at the Park - A perennial favorite, Russell-native Brad Dawson is back again with his colleagues from Kansas City to bring us an afternoon of jazz at Bickerdyke Park. $10/ticket. Seating provided. Bickerdyke Park. Tickets available at the Park.

4pm - Everyday People (Historical Monologues), a new play by Catherine Treischmann, is about people of Russell's past. The play is a dramatic yarn of Russell history and its six actors take the audience from ancient times through settlers and up to present day. $10/ticket. St. John Lutheran Church. Tickets available at the door.

Prairiesta Store is open today from 10am-Noon. We have lots of Cookbooks, Souvenir Program Books chalk full of Russell pioneer history, Travel and Glass Mugs, coins, pins, pre-orders of the Prairiesta-opoly is available, and lots of other items.

If you need tickets for today's 2pm Jazz at the Park or the 4pm "Everyday People" Play/Historical Monologue, stop by the Store. The tickets will be available at the door of each event as well. Thank you for your support of Prairiesta!
