This week at The HeARTh!

Saturday, January 8th Recycled Floral Paper Making Class! With Emily Paige Doss leading the group! Cost is just $10 and we provide EVERYTHING!

Sunday, January 9th is Valentine's Day Card Expo ! Just $5 let's you create up to 3 cards!

On Friday, Valentine's Day, we've partnered with the River Valley Arts Center to bring you a presentation on chivalry, presented by Dr Stanley Lombardo before our biggest event of the month...

Our Groovin' and Grazin' Valentine's dance! This is a night full of music by local jazz group, Enceladus as well as a few other surprise performers! There will be food, dancing, live art, AND a teacup auction! We have snacks and drinks included in the $10 ticket, but we will also have last minute bakery pop ups with a few local bakeries so you can end your night with a sweet treat! This is an event you DON'T want to miss!

DID YOU KNOW?

Even if you missed a class or crafting opportunity due to scheduling issues or just plain forgetfulness, you can now come in during any of our open hours and "rent" the supplies, notes, examples (and in some cases watch a video stream) of the class you missed!

Our new Supply Share program makes it so much easier for ANYONE to come try a craft! The only downside is you won't have a group of humans to learn with like at our classes, but that could be a bonus if you don't like to people as much as you like to craft!

Please, if you've been thinking about checking out our space, we implore you to give us a try sometime this month. We are fighting really hard to keep this communal space for our community, but we cannot do it without the financial and energetic support of our community!

Drawings will start at 10 am this morning (Monday) and run every 30 minutes (or so- we ARE neurodivergent and sleep deprived🤪) until we run out of mystery bags or names to pull!

Here's a bit more about our upcoming Puppeteer Expo at the end of this month, as well as the HeARTisan running it!

Stoddard is the artistic director and producer of the Holy Mackerel Puppet Theater. JoMichael has been building and performing with puppets for over 40 years. His fascination the history of puppetry and the art and craft of puppetry has been a life long pursuit.
The puppetry workshop starts at 3pm on Friday, February 28th with an evening of the puppetry history and culture. Then on Saturday morning (March 1st) at 11am, there will be some puppet building then working with professional puppets to create a puppet performance.
It all leads up to the Sunday (March 2nd) preparation for a matinee performance of the puppet show. Anyone wishing to join in the performance should be here at 11am, but if you just want to watch, the show will begin at 1:30pm!
Please help us keep this nonprofit going by spreading the word and making time to come support the impressive HeARTisans who devote their time and talents to providing such entertainment for the River Valley!

(Side note...JoMichael would LOVE to add a few troupe members to his Holy Mackerel Puppet Theater, so if you've ever wanted to try puppetry, this is your sign!)

We have been asked to help the River Valley Arts Center host their annual Collegiate Art Competition, and we cannot be more excited. This is open to any and all college students (regardless of age) who wish to submit 1 or 2 original art pieces (for a $10 entry fee each) in order for the chance to win the $100 Best of Show prize!

This is a fundraiser for the River Valley Arts Center, and we want to do what we can to support their endeavors, as they have been so supportive of our own!

The deadline to submit/drop off a piece is February 26th at 5pm. All submissions will be on display in our gallery for approximately 3 weeks once the competition ends.

This is a GREAT opportunity for budding collegiate artists to start making a name for themselves! We cannot wait to see what creations are submitted in the coming weeks!

Please share this with all your family and friends who might have an artist they know who is currently enrolled in college.

Continuing our introductions we have Allicia Faber!

Allicia is “from” Massachusetts and Pennsylvania and now resides in Clarksville, Arkansas. She loves to create and play with art as it brings peace and joy to her soul. She has a subtle pride jewlery line that is very close to her heart. She is currently enrolled at Southern New Hampshire University for her bachelor’s degree in Creative writing. At the Hearth she is the Secretary and is known as the Pinchhitter and Paper maven, as she has the ability to work her magic in a pinch. Her passions include working with authors as an editor to help bring their art out into the world. In the art world she sticks to painting, crocheting, and jewelry making. She works as a proofreader and author’s assistant and has been doing so for a few years. Allicia says that it has been the most fulfilling work she has ever done. Her dreams are to be paid to read books for a living and as of now she is filled with such happiness to be able to live her dreams. In her free time she can be found sipping a vanilla chai tea latte in the shade as she sunburns easily. She also can be found at The Hearth hosting Romantasy Book clubs.

Continuing our introductions we have Charles Cromwell.
Charles is a Heartist who was born and raised in Dover Arkansas. He has a Bachelor's degree in Geology and keeps a variety of pet rocks that he takes care of with his extensive knowledge of sciencey facts as well as his creative know how. Charles's creative ventures include: line art ( with 2 published coloring books), prop making, and the beginnings of work in animation. Other artistic ventures he participates in are theatrics and world building in the magical world of Dungeons and Dragons! He hosts drawing classes and D&D here at The HeARTh every other Saturday with THIS Saturday being the weekend it's happening again! His goals in the realm of art are to show the magic of other cultures and mythology to the world with his knowledge and copious amounts of research. Charles has dedicated himself to uncovering information on cryptids and other mythos he finds to interest him and creating art from that. He has published two coloring books from this already and is already working on many other projects - including co-writing a musical set to debut HERE! Outside of the artworld his goals are to experience the joys and wonders of life through travel. In his freetime he builds cosplays and attends anime conventions as well as spending time with his furbaby Trinket.

Here's part one of our local radio interview! IT'S what's happening TOMORROW in #downtownrussellville for the #artwalk in #russellvillear! There's a #fridaythe13th party complete with a #zombiecrawl at the end! Our photographer will be present, so if you like the zombie images you see, you'll want to be there! Then, there is a #magicshow that is also kid friendly! #magicshowforkids!

Haunted Alleyways Trick-and-Treat Crawl SCAVENGER HUNT WINNER DRAWING! Thanks to Cool Cat Creamery, B Street Bakery & Deli, Garden Sass, and POTTERY WORX for donating a gift for the winner drawing! Another grateful moment for our in-house photographer Anchored Images, LLC who donated a free photo to anyone who came in and wanted one! Another thanks to the numerous volunteers, other businesses who helped in planning and donating items, and all of you who shared/hyped/came out! Please keep this event in mind for next year! We have all taken many notes on how to improve the event and some of us even have inspiration for next year! We are also open to feedback so feel free to let us know what you thought and how we can make next year better! (Besides more candy and map sheets. 😅🤪)
