The festival will include amazing panilest, music and performances, wellness activities such as yoga, vendors, and a kid zone.

Dr. Haggins will do the honor of pouring libations at Black Womxn Festival!

Dr. Kristee Haggins (she/her/hers) is a community healer, African-centered psychologist,
consultant, and professor who takes a holistic approach to healing mind, body, spirit and
community.
Dr. Haggins is the Executive Director and a founding member of Safe Black Space, a developing non-profit focused on helping Black people heal and thrive in the face of racism and anti-Blackness.
Dr. Haggins provides consultations, trainings and workshops to agencies,
organizations, and universities on topics such as: Black racial stress, trauma and healing;
trauma informed care with a racial lens; mental health and self-care.

Kirsten Johnson will be teaching mindful yoga at the Black Womxn Festival on August 13th at 10:35!

Kirsten is the founder of In Her Voice, a community yoga and wellness practice that promotes body positivity and mindfulness in order to encourage healing and healthy habits for long lasting physical and mental health.

Chioko is a woman of many talents and passions. She is a photographer and a public health practitioner in both community health organizations and in the state public health department, she is an Associate Marriage Family Therapist (AMFT)and an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC).

Chioko is the founder of The Click Photography, a photography business that focuses on photographing people of color, in natural lighting, to showcase the beauty in all of us. Her specialties are individual headshots; family and bo***ir photography.

For , BWU would like to highlight Toni McNeil, who will be one of our guest speakers at the upcoming Black Womxn Festival!
Toni is a mother, ordained elder, an entrepreneur and community organizer with a strong passion for healing and empowerment within communities of color through the means of active listening, training, and educating.

She is the Founder and Host of Anti-Black Conversations, which is a virtual platform that is a Space where People of Color can challenge each others conditioned mindsets via emotionally intelligent conscious dialogue to reveal the film of White Supremacy which clouds the lenses of how we perceive ourselves and others.

The one and only Dr. Teah Hairston will be a guest speaker at the Black Womxn Festival!

If you don’t already know, Dr. Hairston is a mother, a holistic health and wellness coach,a, certified holistic nutritionist, a community caregiver, sociologist and the founder of Be Love Holistic, LLC, a philanthropic organization which offers holistic health and wellness services to equip Black women with information, education, and resources intended to improve and optimize mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical wellbeing.

Dr. Hairston is also a professional research data specialist and grant program evaluator, a trained Emotional Emancipation Circle (EEC)SM facilitator, and a Black women's grief and loss group program coordinator, specializing in pregnancy loss, early infant death, and infertility. As a self-trained fitness enthusiast and former fitness instructor, Dr. Hairston emphasizes in her work the mental, emotional, and spiritual benefits of exercise/physical fitness, and its therapeutic value in self- and community-care.

Dr. Hairston serves as Vice President of Safe Black Space, a non-profit organization that exists to nurture Black wellness by creating intentional healing space for Black people, providing tips and strategies for understanding and dealing with racial stress and trauma, and engaging in culturally relevant restorative practices. She is also the Vice President of Sacramento Area Congregations Together (Sac ACT), a grassroots multi-faith organization dedicated to creating more just and equitable communities.

Dr. Hairston uses her personal background combined with her diverse professional, educational, and community experiences to empower Black women and communities using a holistic approach.

As we get closer to the date of the Black Womxn Festival, we would like to provide updates on the event and highlight some of our guest speakers, activities and performers. This week we are highlighting Demi Gooch!

Demi is an educator, advocate, and a public servant. She is a longtime friend and supporter of BWU. As a Black woman of trans experience, she is dedicated to fighting for representation in education.
