We are best friends that decided to pursue our passion for wedding and event planning! We have been friends since high school and have always loved planning events. We both went to college to get a degree in something we both enjoyed but we have decided to go into the wedding industry. A little back story about our business name, Down the Hatch:
We coincidentally married brothers whose last name i

s Hatch. Our family slogan is "Down the Hatch!" It is a perfect representation of how we like to have fun and has nothing to do with our ability to down drinks 😉. Lanisha may love weddings and all the details that go into them but she is not a sap! Ashley is the one that will be shedding a tear at everyone's wedding but that's just our Sun signs showing 😏. Full-Service Coordination:
This package is perfect for a busy couple or for a couple that wants a hands-off approach to the planning process. We will be involved every step of the way, from start to finish, in setting a budget, finding vendors, designing the decor and theme, and so much more. This package will provide the best experience for a couple that is just beginning and does not know where to start. Partial Coordination:
This package is perfect for a couple who has started some of the planning but needs help ensuring all the details are perfect for the big day. This is ideal for a couple that wants to be more involved with the planning. This package would benefit a couple that has most of the vendors secured, a good idea of their decor and design, and a budget in mind but needs help with finding the remaining vendors, final decor tips, and making sure all the details are finalized. Month Of/Day Of Coordination :
This package is for a couple that wants to do all their own planning but needs help on the day of to have someone run the show! We will jump into your planning process a month before the wedding and will help make sure everything will be perfect on the big day. This package is the best fit for someone who already has a good percentage of their wedding planned.

😍 Wedding guest book inspiration! Here are some of our favorite and unique ideas.

Are you struggling to come up with an idea for a guest book?

Here's what to ask yourself when deciding on a guest book:

1. Do you want something always on display in your house?
2. Do you want something more discreet that you can pull out occasionally and look at?
3. Do you want something versatile that you can use more often? (Ex: corn hole boards or jenga)
4. Do you want something traditional or non-traditional?
5. Do you want enough room for long notes, or are you okay with short notes?

This a good example of how having a coordinator with quick thinking and problem-solving skills can come in handy on your wedding day!

This couple was originally planning on doing a garter toss but the bride forgot her garter when she left for the wedding. They really wanted to have that "garter toss moment" so we came up with a backup plan! Instead of a garter toss, we advised them to do a boutonniere toss! The Groom was so much fun and decided he wanted to do a little dance for the Bride before tossing the boutonniere.

Don't worry we removed the pins before the toss! 😉

While we love wedding traditions, we love to switch it up sometimes! If you are unsure about doing a garter toss maybe try tossing the boutonniere instead!

A little behind the scenes from the Pearls in the Pines Bridal Fair. We love getting to use our creativity to create something beautiful. We also got to showcase our problem-solving skills because not everything goes according to plan and you always need to be flexible.

Having a wedding coordinator who can help you bring your vision to life is so helpful. It is also important for your coordinator to be good at problem-solving and coming up with last-minute solutions when something doesn't work the way everyone thought it would!

Congratulations! You just got engaged and now you are starting to plan for your wedding! Here are our top tips for getting started.

Step 1:
Create a joint email address. This makes it SO much easier to keep track of all wedding-related communication. That way you don't need to remember if your caterer sent the quote to your email or your fiance's email. It also comes in handy after the wedding because you can use it for bills, your baby registry 😉, and anything else you can think of.

Step 2:
Create an account with theknot.com. There are a ton of wedding websites to choose from but our personal favorite is The Knot. They have so many useful planning tools to take advantage of. You can also start playing around with your personalized wedding website after you create an account.

Step 3:
Start discussing your budget for the wedding. It is important to have an idea of what you can afford BEFORE you start booking your venue and vendors. There can be a lot of unforeseen wedding expenses and you don't want to accidentally spend a big chunk of your budget on your venue, for example. The average wedding in California can cost about $30,000. Of course, there are ways to keep the cost down so it is important to discuss the following:
- How much you and your fiance can contribute to the wedding
- How much do your families intend to pitch in for the wedding
- What is important to you and your fiance for the wedding: Do you want a small wedding or a large wedding, a live band or DJ, a small venue or extravagant venue, fancy food or casual food, a wild party or relaxed vibes?

Step 4:
This tip is optional but we definitely recommend it. Opening a joint credit card would come in handy because it keeps all your wedding expenses in one place. This makes it easier to track how much you have spent so far. Also, most credit card companies offer a signup bonus, and after you spend a certain amount you get rewards points. You can use the rewards points you accumulate from wedding expenses towards your honeymoon.

Reasons to hire a wedding planner! This is non biased advice. We are not recommending this just because we are wedding planners. Hiring a wedding planner is a MUST to help ensure you wedding goes smoothly. We both hired wedding coordinators for our weddings because it ensured that we could get through the day without worrying about where people were, what time things were supposed to start, where our parents were when it was time for their toast, ect. Being a bride and keeping your phone on you the entire day is tough! All day you get pulled in different directions and you set your phone down and forget where it went. It's extra work to try and manage the timeline by yourself. You also don't want your bridal party or family to do the coordinating because they should be there to enjoy YOU and your SPOUSE. If hiring a coordinator is out of your budget, we 100% recommend asking a friend or relative that is not involved in the wedding. Someone who can follow the timeline and help with the decor. Your mom and bridesmaids should not be out the morning of the wedding setting and decorating tables. They should be in the room laughing, drinking, and crying happy tears with you as you start on your new adventure!
