📢 Important Announcement: It is with deep regret that we announce the cancellation of this year’s Cinco de Mayo Festival at Southside Park. We understand the disappointment this may bring to our community, and we want to share the reasons behind this decision.
🚫 Naming Issue: Despite our best efforts, we were informed that we could not use the name “Cinco de Mayo” for the festival due to unforeseen circumstances. This unexpected restriction significantly impacted our ability to secure sponsorships and support.
💰 Financial Challenges: Additionally, after reviewing the fees required by the city and other agencies, we found them to be prohibitively high. Passing these costs on to vendors would compromise our commitment to affordable and accessible events for all.
🤝 Call to Action: We invite our community to join us in addressing these challenges. We are seeking to engage with the City of Sacramento and city officials to explore solutions that support the continuation of cultural events like “Cinco de Mayo”. Your support and engagement are crucial as we navigate these issues together. Councilmember Eric Guerra Councilmember Katie ValenzuelaSacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
🌟 Future Plans: While this year’s festival may not proceed as planned, we remain committed to celebrating our culture and community. Stay tuned for updates and opportunities to get involved in future events and we ask that you please get out there and support other local Cinco de Mayo events in your community!
🙏 Thank You: We want to express our gratitude to our community, sponsors, vendors, and partners for their continued support. Together, we can overcome these challenges and create a more vibrant and inclusive community for all.
