The shooting of two kids on Del Paso Boulevard this past Saturday has prompted the Vida De Oro Foundation to postpone its annual Sacramento Taco Festival. We will let you know of a new date and location in a couple of weeks.

"What a long strange trip it's been..." Grateful Dead

The Sacramento Taco Festival had its birth October 12, 2012 in an 1800 square foot building with three taco vendors, continuous entertainment, tequila tasting, and a taco eating contest. Since then we moved it on to Del Paso Boulevard, added live professional wrestling and Northern California's first Chihuahua Beauty Contest. The last time we conducted this event was in 2019, since the following two years saw its postponement due to the COVID pandemic. Now in 2022, we had hoped to return, but with so many competing events, and some very similar to the Taco Festival, it tells us that the Sacramento Taco Festival has perhaps run its course. Although it has been a great fundraiser for the Vida De Oro Foundation, it's time we look toward creating other events that can raise as much if not more funding than the Taco Festival has for the Foundation. We want to thank the many people, sponsors, vendors, entertainers and the City of Sacramento for making this event extremely unique over the years. Stay tuned to find out what we come up with in the near and long-term future. Thank you all.
