Lots of Fun ahead!
December 19 – Polar Express Special Event! 6pm at The Welden Theatre
St. Albans Recreation is delighted to present a very special Polar Express evening at The Welden Theatre....
There will be special showing of Polar Express on Tuesday, December 19 at 6pm.
Children are encouraged to arrive in nice warm pajamas. They will be treated to hot cocoa & cookies on their way in. Each will receive a special ticket as they arrive and will have their tickets punched on the way into the theater.
In addition - we have it on very good authority that there will be a special visitor - a very holly, jolly special visitor at the end of the movie. This will take place at city hall at the end of the show. After the movie, families will be directed by our conductor to city hall. This will not be a sit on Santa's lap time, but an opportunity to take a quick picture of your child with our visitor and then whisk away with some terrific holiday memories made. :) $16 res, $22 non-res
Special Conditions:
• There are some specific conditions that will apply to this event.
• All tickets must be purchased through this site.
• There is limited seating, tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis.
• Tickets will not be available on TicketLeap.
• Welden Passes are not applicable to this event.
• St. Albans Recreation Gift Cards and acct credits CAN be used for this event
• Everyone, all ages, entering the movie must pay and register.
• Children must be accompanied by an adult.
• If there is seating left, payment at the door will be allowed, however we expect this event to sell out.

December 20 - Holiday Confection Class for Kids & Adults at 3:00pm and at 5:30pm
Join us for some sweet holiday fun! We'll be making festive holiday treats aimed to please kids of all ages. Each registered participant will make and enjoy these delicious treats and will have a festive holiday tray of treats to take home and share!$20 res, $29 non-res
2 Classes - Wednesday December 20, 2023
3:00-5:30pm
5:30-7:00pm
Each child must be registered (and bring an adult with them) One treat tray will go home with each registered person. Do you have more than one child that would like to attend? No problem - register the children and you can be the "adult" for both. Only one adult is allowed per registration.
Registration fee includes all materials and the tray of goodies to take home.

December 14 – Judging Holiday Home Decorating Contest

It's TIME to get festive and enter into the Holiday Home Decorating Contest 2022.

If your house is decorated for the season and is lighted, inflated, tinseled, jingled, frosty, merry or bright-we want to hear from you! All decorations celebrating the season are encouraged. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzza, or just have the itch to put up decorations, JOIN IN THE FUN.

Our van of elves will be touring St Albans on December 14th, 2023 looking for holiday spirit and home decor. Prizes will be awarded to those homes favored by the elf crew.

December 17, 22 & 23 Horse Drawn Sleigh/Wagon Rides
Several dates and times to choose from!
It's lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you...
We're delighted to offer horse drawn wagon/sleigh rides on the beautiful backfields at Hard'ack. The sleigh is a rustic box sleigh with hay bale seating. Each ride is about 20 minutes long, includes a blanket, Hot Cocoa, a little holiday magic and will take you through beautiful Vermont Scenery. A perfect way to celebrate the winter holiday season with family, friends and out of town guests! Whether it's a sleigh or wagon ride will depend upon the conditions and is at the sole discretion of the driver. Either will be a delight. Bundle up for the season and bring a blanket. When you arrive at Hard'ack, check in with staff at the Greg Brown Lodge. The lodge will be open with a fire in the fireplace, hot cocoa for all and a fire on the patio. Sleighs leave about every 30 minutes.

How do you reserve? Call the the office to reserve your specific time and make payment at one of these numbers 802-524-1971, 802-524-1559, or 802-752-2165.

In the event that field and or trail conditions are unsafe for the horses, the driver may alter course of ride so that ride may take place on streets around Hard'ack. That decision is made the day of the ride. In extreme conditions, the ride could be cancelled and all participants would be refunded. Our primary concern is safety of the participants and horses :)

Champlain Youth Choir - January 3, 2024
The Champlain Youth Choir is open to any student between 3rd and 6th grade from St. Albans and surrounding communities.
We will be working together to sing in an ensemble format.
Wednesdays 6:30-7:30 at the First Congregational Church
Concert is the Wednesday after town Meeting Day March 6th.

Call to anyone that would like to try their hand at designing a sticker for the April 8th, 2024 solar eclipse! Winner will receive $100 prize after public voting selection!

Entrants must be 18+ years old and a resident of Franklin County to participate.

Submissions are open NOW until 11:59 pm EST December 31st, 2023. Submissions will be accepted via email at [email protected] or physical drop off (please DM for drop off location).

Important Tractor Parade info!! The parade is Next Friday, December 8th, 6pm

We wanted to let you know that the tractor parade route will be reversed this year. We are hoping that this will help alleviate some of the congestion after the parade! Roads will be closed by 5:45.

Please be respectful when parking not to block driveways, park on lawns or otherwise park in a manner that will hinder emergency access to an area.
