BCWG COC/Policies
Section 1. Player Conduct - all ITC rules are adopted. Read the ITC Code of Conduct prior to the event.
Section 2. Events Registration -
A. Rules cutoff / Lists due / Payment due are always 1 week prior to the event by 1159pm, unless otherwise mentioned. (Although very unlikely, BCWG reserves the rights to limit new rules based upon potential game breaking interactions.)
B. If a player hasn’t attached their list and/or made payment by the listed deadline, we will attempt to contact the player. If contact cannot be made, the player will be dropped from the event. The player may re-register for the event, however, payment and list submission is due immediately. Players risk losing their spot if they don’t meet the List/Payment deadline.
C. Drops: If a player must drop after the list/payment deadline, the player must contact BCWG for refund. Please simply just reach out.
D. 24 hour cutoff: Drop refunds will not be approved unless urgent circumstances exist within 24 hours of the event. We understand life happens, please just reach out. It is very difficult to fill a spot within 24 hours before the event in order to offer all players the chance to play games against opponents, as opposed to bye rounds.
E. Drop tracking: drops after deadline and drops within 24 hours will be tracked. If a pattern is established, the player will be warned, if the pattern continues after warning, the player will be issued event bans on a case by case basis.
F. No call / No show: a player who does not show and does not contact will not be refunded and will be banned from the next 2 BCWG events.
**Events Registration rules are simply to help BCWG plan events and allow the other players to get good games against real opponents. Communication is key! Please just reach out!
Section 3. Game Conduct
(ITC rules adopted)
A. Rules Omissions aka “gotcha”:
If a player is asking about rules from their opponent, omissions will be treated as cheating.
Example: Player A asks Player B if a certain unit has the ability to heroically intervene. Player B says only “yes.” Player B does not specify that the ability comes from a stratagem (which can only be used once per phase at a command point cost). This is considered an omission. Consider it is round 3 when Player A is considering moving within 4” of an enemy unit and asks Player B the question, and Player B has spent all of their command points, Player B could not use the stratagem, however, Player B has lead Player A to believe he is capable of something he is not. This is considered cheating by omission.
**In the case of an omission, immediately call a judge. If multiple unit actions have happened by the time the omission is in question (such as 2 units’ shooting has been resolved) the player who is omitting information will not be allowed to use the omitted ability, and will be issued a yellow card.
Section 4: Player Disputes
A. If the players cannot quickly resolve an issue by referencing the rules, call for a judge. The judge will issue a snap ruling or comprehensive ruling (see ITC COC)
**It is imperative to call a judge**
B. Players MUST call a judge during the game at the time of the dispute or as soon as possible. The longer the time goes after the dispute, the more difficult it will be to have a fair ruling.
Example: There was a game 1 rules dispute. One player researches the interaction after game 2 completed. Assume the interaction “would have won the game” for the disputing player; the situation will be assessed, but it is highly unlikely that the game will be retroactively “fixed.” CALL THE JUDGE ASAP, DO NOT WAIT.
Section 5: Judging
A. Dice checks: Judges will periodically and randomly conduct dice checks for altered dice. Any player with dice that are found to be modified will be red carded, banned indefinitely from BCWG events, and reported to the ITC.
Dice that are questionable will be disallowed from the event. The player must use different dice. The dice will be held by the judge until the completion of the event and then returned to the player.
B. Game Time/Timers: ITC clock rules apply. If a table is instructed by a judge to use a clock, the players must comply. If a clock is needed and neither player has a clock, one will be provided for the table. A players’ refusal will result in a yellow card and so on.
BCWG will announce game milestones throughout the round to help players keep up. Please call a judge if you feel like your game is too far behind or a player is slow playing.
The round is 3 hours. You will be allowed to play the full 3 hours, however, no new rounds may be started within the last 10 minutes of the game. Call a judge for scoring.
