Sound of Speed 2024 Sound of Speed Air Show and Open House, Sept. 14 & 15. Gates open 10 AM and show starts at noon! At Rosecrans Memorial Airport, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The Missouri Air National Guard's 139th Airlift Wing, the City of St. Joseph, and Buchanan County have hosted the Sound of Speed Air Show & Open House in 2016, 2018, and 2021 in addition to the Sound of Speed Warbird Fly-In in 2022.

During the ICAS Convention, the Air Force Thunderbirds announced the Sound of Speed Airshow and 139th Airlift Wing Open House as the 2024 Military Show Site of the Year! A lot of hard work goes into hosting a good show. Thank you to all of our partners who helped us host a great show!

The 139th Airlift Wing and Sound of Speed Airshow were honored to be selected as the Air Force Thunderbirds 2024 Military Show Site of the Year! Several criteria are looked at including adherence to the Thunderbirds support manual and community engagement events.

Day one of the Sound of Speed Air Show and 139th Airlift Wing open house has opened! Food courts are located on the north and south ends of the show. There are three, free water stations. Be sure to check out the STEM display which is new this year!

Shuttle buses are available to transport guests from the free parking lot to the airshow entrance. Parking lots open at 8 AM and airshow opens at 10 AM both days. Please note the location of the shuttle bus pickup on the map on the airshow website or Facebook. For those who prefer to walk, the distance from the free parking lot entrance to the airshow entrance is approximately 1 mile. Porta potties are available along the route. Empty water containers are allowed into the airshow as well as clear, unopened water bottles. There are three water refill stations at the air show.

After their practice show, the Thunderbirds had the honor of meeting some very special families thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. These families got to watch the practice show and enjoyed a meet-and-greet with the team.
