The Flower & Plant Barn is now called The Gilded Greenhouse. While we will continue to be a garden center and florist shop offering home-grown plants, seasonal flowers, floral arrangements and bereavement offerings, you can now also find gifts for every occasion, houseplants of every size, and a space where beauty is discovered and inspiration flourishes. As we move into Fall and the Holiday seaso
n, you can also expect to see constant changes in product and plant offerings, as well as, classes and events that will delight all your senses! We invite you to come out and see all the beautiful updates.
🌻🌺☀️How are your flower gardens coming along? After a couple weeks of sun and good rain, our Zinnias, Cosmos and Sunflowers have really taken off! The snapdragons are slow growers, but they're coming along nicely. We're already having fun harvesting the zinnias for our fresh cut arrangements. We'd love to see your flower gardens!! 🥰🌸🌼
🥦🥦Fall Veggies are out! Bill grew a new batch of broccoli, cauliflower, assorted cabbages, kohlrabi and brussels sprouts for FALL HARVESTING. You can replant these veggies during the summer and get another yield of yumminess for the Fall. All available in 3-packs in our Annuals greenhouse. 🥦🥦

We've been having fun experimenting in our backyard! We tore down an old storage building and planted our first Summer annuals cut garden! We're hoping to grow more of our own fresh cut flowers to use in those beautiful arrangements 💐 Bill started Zinnias, Cosmos, Sunflowers and Snapdragons from seed, and we finished planting them all this past weekend. We've already had one raccoon munching on the Cosmos, the little rascal! Hopefully these green babies can withstand our wildlife and bloom into beauties. 🪷🌸🌺🌼🌻

We've had an amazing garden center season! THANK YOU for the wonderful community support and all the kind words we've received! It really means a lot to us as we try our best each day to delight our lovely customers! We need some time to recharge and will be taking a week-long break from June 29-July 7 to spend time enjoying the summer sun with friends and family. We will be closed during this time.

Happy official first day of Summer! Summer means time for vacation for many, and with that, leaving your green babies at home to fend for themselves. Stop by to pick up a Bordy water reserve before you head out. Fill it with water, and place in the pot of the plant that needs some extra loving while you're away. The water reserve will release water into your pot as needed through the terracotta tip.
And don't forget to have a friendly neighbor water your outdoor garden while you're away. Have them soak the plants each night or early in the morning during this heat!!

Chunk out the work and set boundaries for what you will accomplish each day, garden early in the morning or later at night to avoid high temperature times, set an alarm to remind you of watering days/times, drink lemonade in the shade, pause and listen to nature, and pat yourself on the back for all the hardwork you've put into creating something beautiful !! 💜🩵🐝🌺🌸😃
🐝🐝Help Save the Bees🍯🍯
We had a colony of honey bees move into one of our hollowed out Oak trees recently. The bees are making their hive about 12 feet up the tree. Unfortunately, we need to cut this tree down for safety reasons. We've notified the Greater Grand Lake Beekeeper's Association, and we have yet to have any bee takers. If you know anyone that would be interested in removing the honey bees, please reach out to the shop by June 17th (Phone: 419 394 8668).
These little ditties are so cute! Half-moon, banana leaf rope hanging baskets with flat backs that hold three (3) of our 3.5" potted plants. We hung ours on the outside of the perennials house and the main shop entrance filled with houseplants...could be cute for jazzing up the side of a garden shed or an interior wall in your home 😉🌿🩵💛

Remember these indoor, kitchen cuties?!? After a month of growth, we have our first batch of Sweet N' Neat yellow tomatoes 😃We noticed they needed a little more light-loving than our South-facing window could provide, so we set them below our grow lights this morning to see how well they do this month!!

We can't believe it's June 1st already!! One week of Summer vacation in the books for the kids and many tired parents out there already I'm sure 😃😎 We're shifting our Saturday hours back to our normal 10:00am-3:00pm starting today! Fun fact Friday! Our hanging baskets and planters are all hand pruned by our garden expert and greenhouse manager Bill before they hit the floor! He puts so much TLC into each plant! 🥰Pruning helps keep the flowers healthy and blooming all season. It sends the energy back to the core. Make sure to prune your hanging baskets and planters at home and they will bloom and last all summer if watered! 🌱🌸
