My Pops, with his wisdom and life experience, always emphasized the importance of not being the smartest person in the room. According to him, being surrounded by individuals who challenge and inspire you is crucial for personal and intellectual growth. He believed that complacency sets in when one becomes too comfortable in the role of the most knowledgeable person present. Pops encouraged me to seek environments where I could learn from others, engage in meaningful conversations, and be exposed to diverse perspectives. In his view, this constant pursuit of knowledge and the willingness to be a perpetual learner were key to avoiding stagnation and reaching one's full potential.

He often shared anecdotes from his own life, highlighting instances where he found himself in situations where he wasn't the expert, but those moments ultimately propelled him forward. Pops instilled in me the idea that each encounter with someone more knowledgeable or skilled should be seen as an opportunity for personal development. This mindset not only fostered a sense of humility but also fueled a lifelong commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
