This year's UNW High School Honor Band will be conducted by Dr. Cassandra Bechard (UNW Director of Bands), and guest composer/conductor Dr. Nicole Piunno. Dr. Piunno's music has been performed by "The President's Own" United States Marine Band, the Principal Brass Quintet of the New York Philharmonic, the United States Coast Guard Band, and at many universities and conservatories around the country. Her large ensemble music has also been featured at multiple regional CBDNA conferences, the Midwest Clinic, and numerous all-state concerts. Honor Band is Saturday, January 20, 2024. We are proud of all of our UNW voice students who participated in the 2023 Minnesota National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Auditions last weekend! Special congratulations go to Peter Strand, 3rd place in the 2nd Year College Classical Tenor/Bass Division; Joy Jasik, 2nd place in the Fourth Year College Classical Treble Division; and 2023 alumna Emma Davis, 1st place in the Graduate Treble Division. Our Jazz Ensemble, with director Dr. Cassandra Bechard and adjunct trombone instructor Christian Howard, had a great time on their fall break tour to Sioux Falls, SD! They visited Sioux Falls Christian High School, O'Gorman High School, Edison Middle School, and Roosevelt High School for performances and clinics.
