will be pouring samples for you in under a week! Being named a Rising Star by in 2022 is definitely an honor, but their star has been shining bright for those in-the-know for some time.

These folks are quite young to have as many staples and classics to their name, but a look around local tap lists will tell you this is not an exaggeration. False Pattern? Classic. Dream Yard? Classic. Supra Deluxe? Classic. First Call might not be as easy to find, but the following it has is well deserved and was their first beer we fell in love with. And this is all without even mentioning their oak aged program - a force to be reckoned with on its own.

Always pushing boundaries. Always standing for something. Always staying true to making great beer. Always collaborating with some of the biggest names in the nation. There’s just always something going on at Modist that makes stopping into the brewery a worthwhile trip.

Their brand is unmistakeable: serious beer, silly names, and art that is equal parts fun, confusing, and enticing. You’re likely familiar with ‘Honees Honees’, their peanut butter and honey blonde and ‘Super Squishy’, their blackberry, raspberry, and coconut sour, but you’ll find they release constant riffs on their standby beers as well as some pretty out-there sounding limited releases that always hit the mark.

Oliphant has the unique talent of taking what seems extreme and making it both approachable and delicious, and they back up all the craziness with a very solid lineup of what one might call ‘normal beer’ as well.

will be with us this year showing why their name has been steadily on the rise since the day they opened, and you can be sure they’ll be pouring some heavy hitters.

Even if Tomm’s American Lager hadn’t taken Best In Show at the 2023 MN Brewers Cup. Even if they didn’t pump out some of the best looking cans in the business. Even if you couldn’t count on their taproom for both pinball and a great space to watch MN sports. Even if they didn’t crank out awesome merch regularly. Even taking away all of that, Falling Knife would still have our hearts for giving us one of the best, most reliable Hazy IPAs around: Verbal Tip. Pairing Citra and Mosaic has been done many times before, but we often question if it has been done better.

There are plenty of breweries after the Hazy IPA throne in Minnesota, and that conversation just isn’t complete without mentioning Back Channel. Can you get a Lager from them? A Pale Ale? A Stout? A Sour? All yes, and all will be top notch. If you trek to the shores of Minnetonka to visit them, however, you’re best advised to enjoy a silky, soft NEIPA out of a bowl. Anything else would like going to Oktoberfest in Munich for a handful of Shandies.

Their carefully crafted beverages made of heirloom and traditional cider apples lean toward dry and tannic, but they aren’t afraid to mix things up either! From their 1.5L bags of still cider perfect to pour whatever amount you want from the fridge to their blood orange and pineapple coconut seasonals, they blend innovation and tradition and always knock it out of the park.

is the fest guest we’re showcasing today, and there’s a lot to talk about when it comes to these folks! One of a few breweries that had the unfortunate timing to open in the early days of the pandemic, we are extremely glad they managed to not only stick it out but also thrive to the point that they’ve already got a massive expansion basically completed.

What was once a Ruby Tuesdays in Champlin is now widely considered to be among the top couple of breweries to pop up in the last few years. Their talented head brewer Nick is supported by a more than capable team and they’ve always produced a range of styles for their taproom while distribution has largely seen Hazy IPAs and Sours.

They’ve settled on a few flagships of late, and there is scarcely a wrong time to enjoy their silky smooth Citra and Enigma hopped ‘Sustained Illusion’ NEIPA, but their new real estate will provide much more capacity to dedicate to Lagers that will make it to liquor store shelves. We, for one, cannot wait to see what they do with their upcoming creative freedom.

is another brewery we’ll be welcoming to fest this year that is guaranteed to bring crowd pleasers. They aren’t the newest face on the scene (they turn 5 this year), but getting this stuff outside of Duluth was a lot harder until recently so they’ve still got a fresh feel in the metro.

Ursa has been making some big moves lately. They’ve just rebranded the packaging to their flagship brews to a clean, uniform look that’s easy to spot on shelves AND their Irish Red, ‘Equanimity’, just took the top prize in its category at the World Beer Cup - not a feat to shake a stick at!

Their ‘Constellation’ Cream Ale and ‘Galactic Face Slap’ Hazy IPA are nailed on winners, but we’ve been really into their ‘Bear Hop’ American IPA lately. Crispy and clear with a balanced pine and citrus hop profile, it’s a mighty fine example of a style that people are starting to seek out more again despite New England style still being the darling of the craft beer industry.

is younger than most breweries in Minnesota but they seem to be skipping over a lot of the learning curve. All the more impressive given that they were closed down by COVID restrictions just days after opening - not a small obstacle that could understandably shake you off your course.

Leading the way out of Plymouth’s first craft brewery is Foggy Bottom - a hazy IPA with Idaho 7 and Mosaic that pairs waves of tropical and citrus floating over a bit of dank and all riding a silky smooth body. The prove a new dog can do old tricks as well with a Pils that you could easily have seconds, thirds, and fourths of.

These folks are another guest we’ll be very happy to have at the festival on June 10th, so you’ll have a chance to meet the new kid on the block if you haven’t.

Sticking with tradition, is a name that is no stranger to the Minnesota beer scene. It’s been one of the biggest breweries in the state since it opened, and its name has grown to match the space over time.

They bring a European flair to everything they do, and it’s no surprise to see Alts, Bocks, and Helles Lagers rotating through their offerings. That said, the fact that perhaps their best known beer is a Hefeweizen is a feat in modern times that is truly impressive.

We look forward to seeing them at the festival this year, no least because they’ve got an impressive summer lineup that blend the old world with delicate touches of the modern.

has been slowly creeping up in cans from the brewery in New Prague to liquor stores around the metro and on tap at a select group of restaurants, and we expect (and hope) that footprint will expand.

If the name doesn’t suggest it strongly enough, these folks make top notch traditional German-style beers with care, attention to detail, and zero desire for ‘hype’. The only thing flashy is the cans, and that’s just one more thing they’re knocking out of the park.

We’re ecstatic they’ll be at the festival this year and we’re sure you will be too.

It’s been a busy few weeks in beer around here! Not only did the MN Brewer’s Cup highlight some of the best beers in the state, but the World Beer Cup handed out Gold, Silver, and Bronze in over 100 categories of beer and a total of over 10,000 entries.

In the deepest of fields, anyone catch any local winners? Looks like we’ll have some decorated beers available June 10th!

Keeping it dry this year? Whether that’s for health, personal choice, or it’s just your turn to drive, avoiding alcohol at the festival doesn’t mean you’ll be parched or without options.

Our Designated Driver booth will have some of the latest in NA beer (if it’s been a while, it’s come a long way), tangy and botanical beverages, craft sodas, and good ol’ H2O. No need to to be bored just because there’s no alcohol in your afternoon.

DD tickets are available online only, though Early Admission and General Admission tickets can be picked up at Ombibulous, Stinson Wine, Beer, and Spirits, 1st Grand Liquors, Princeton’s Liquors, and Bent Brewstillery if you want to avoid the online service fees.
