It's a day where corgis all gather on the beach with their humans and enjoy the sun, sand, ocean, corgi races, costume contests, and a sense of community. Are there any special events? Yes, there will be a corgi race, costume contest, and corgi limbo! The corgi race will have 2 rounds, and the winner of each round will get a prize bag! The costume contest will have a first prize and second prize,
as well as an honorable mention. Costumes are judged based on creativity, with extra points for homemade costumes. The corgi limbo is the lowest limbo, and the corgi who can scoot their boot the lowest wins! Is there a schedule for the events? There is not technically a schedule for the events. We will announce the start of each event using a megaphone. The start time of each event will be determined by the number of people present. We want as many to participate as possible! Do I need to bring my dog's vaccination records? Please bring your dog's vaccination records whenever you travel with them. We will not require any kind of submission of records or registration, but if your dog is acting strangely, we will ask for them. If your dog gets injured (for example, as a result of rough play at the beach) and you need to visit a veterinarian, you are required to have vaccine records.
There are a lot of pet-friendly hotels on St. Simons Island, and Home2 Suites has graciously given us a group rate! Please see the post to find the link to the group rate. The deadline for booking using that link is September 2nd.
Yes, dogs are allowed off-leash. In fact, this event used to be held on Jekyll Island but is being held on St Simons Island this year specifically because Jekyll Island stopped allowing dogs to be off-leash on the beach!

Simons Island, Georgia. We will be on East Beach near the 1st Street beach access point. There is a parking at that beach entrance.
Of course, Always! You can even come if you don't have a dog at all!
Of course. Permission has been granted by St. Simons Island government as well as the Parks & Recreation department. They are thrilled to have us, and their website mentions us on their calendar! Please help us to follow all the beach rules, including picking up your trash (and other trash, if you see any). We want to make a good impression as a corgi community for our first time having this event on St. Simons Island, and hopefully we will be welcomed back next year!
Yes, there are many dog-friendly restaurants and hotels. Most of them will be aware of this event and will welcome you! Island Dog is offering 10% off your purchase when you mention "CORGI". They have specifically ordered a bunch of corgi-themed items to offer you, just for Corgi Beach Weekend!
Yes, the order week for pickup at the beach has passed, but if you would still like a t-shirt to be shipped to you after the event, there will be another order period after the event. Keep an eye out for the post!
Not at all. The most fun part of the corgi race is watching them run in all different directions. The race will involve 2 people per dog, one at the start and one at the finish. Your dog will run from one person to the other, or you can run with them if you are by yourself!
No there won't, unless wearing a mask makes you feel more comfortable. The CDC states that masks are not required for outdoor events, but if you are unvaccinated, please keep at least 6 feet of distance between your party and other parties. It is safe for vaccinated people to be within 6 feet of distance from each other without masks. So please, get vaccinated for COVID-19! We are not responsible for any harm or injury that is a result of COVID-19.
