The SSAA mission is to fuel young imaginations by giving them the confidence and know-how to express their artistic visions. This summer the SSAA will offer Wednesday arts classes, as well as three five-day arts camps, for young folks age 3 - 18, at the Salado Silver Spur Theater. The Wednesday classes offer a unique blend of instruction and activity in visual arts and performing arts. After a yoga-based warm-up of stretching and breathing, your creative kiddos can awaken their imagination while receiving fun-filled instruction in performing and visual arts, from singing and dancing, to drawing and crafting. Each week, a different form of artistic expression will be featured, with instruction from professional artists, and each student will complete an artistic project. The more intensive camp sessions will likewise begin each day with a yoga-based warm-up of stretching and breathing, leading into dance, movement and imaginative play exercises to stimulate mind and body. The first half of the June and July sessions will focus on performing arts, followed by a brief lunch break, for which students are encouraged to bring a sack lunch or snack. The second half of each daily session will focus on visual arts and crafting, with projects designed to promote growth in self-expression, confidence, and cooperative skills. On the last day of each camp, family and friends will have the opportunity to see the fruits of the students’ efforts in a gallery display and live performance. The August camp will focus more intensely on the performing arts for students age 9 to 18. The SSAA mission is to fuel young imaginations by giving them the confidence and know-how to express their artistic visions. Let your child’s creativity shine this summer.
