Bob was a real hotbed of songs, very charismatic. He was never in one place too long, always moving on. Then when he started gaining fame at a much higher rate than me, our criss-crossing became less frequent.

One night at the Gaslight, he uncorked “Chimes Of Freedom” for the first time. I stood at the back thinking, ‘What the hell happened to this guy since I last looked? Who gave him the Ten Commandments?’

It was borderline comical, because he’d always had this real kinda scufflin’ aspect to him, a real ragamuffin character. Then all of a sudden here he was with the strength of a Greek play every time he opened his mouth...[John Sebastian]

Today, on Americana Ally (Saturday 2-4pm) we pull out all the stops for PLEGE DRIVE, yes it's here and special programming commences with a double header! In the first hour, we present yet another Bob Dylan Cover Pledge Drive Special with covers by Leon Russell, Lucinda Williams, Old Crow Medicine Show and so much more.
In the Second Hour local Renegade Troubadour Sig Paulson will stop in and share some of his more recent songwriting efforts, and will also join in on the Dylan Fest with a cover for Weekly Dylan at 3:00pm.
Pictured is Bob with Joan Baez. In a 2023 interview, Joan waxes poetically about Bob.. ".... “We were in our early 20s,” says Baez, who calls the relationship “totally demoralizing” in her new documentary 'Joan Baez: I Am a Noise' “...We were stupid, and you can’t blame somebody forever. I certainly tried but finally stopped.”
She later found “total forgiveness” for Dylan after she painted a portrait of him in his youth: “I put his music on, and I just dissolved into tears. When I was through with the painting, I had no animosity left. None. It’s remained that way.”
According to Baez, the pair has never reconnected over the years.
