After a very hectic Wheel of the Year, we are finally to the Winter Solstice/Yule. Which means it is time for my annual winter Elevation show titled “the Longest Night” (also known as the rebirth of the Sun). This show will hold connotations of life, death, the Goddess Fr**ga, our spiritual connection to nature, embracing darkness, letting go of things that no longer serve us and making room for the rebirth of light.

There is a big surprise to accompany this year’s show, “the Longest Night”, to be announced by our buddies at Elevation in the coming month. Stay tuned!

I voted like a Mama Bear this year. A Mama Bear protecting my cubs/their cub buds and the community I have called home for almost 2 decades. Voting for experience, longevity, expertise and commitment to this community is more important than ever. You know where my support lies!

If the “good ole boys club”( as referenced by Former Mayor Livichi in the MM) consist of the doers, those protecting our river corridor, those proactively working toward the positive growth of this community, those who volunteer countless hours to make our community a better place or those who are instrumental in making “Colorado’s worst kept secret” what it is today, then count me in. That is a club I would love to join.

I voted like a Mama Bear whose cubs can’t go out and play because they don’t feel safe in their own space somedays 😉

Man, life has taken a much different direction in the last 9 months. I am loving real estate but do miss the studio too. I was so happy to jump back in this last week for a good cause. This magical little piece named “Believer” is headed to the Elevating Readers Together fundraiser tomorrow night, November 4th, at Elevation Beer Company, 5:00 - 9:00 PM. I am honored to have a piece in the auction along with some of Salida’s finest. Come out, have a beer, bid on some cool local art and bring books to every Salida student.
I am back in the studio (at-least part time) working on some killer (big) commissions & my annual Elevation winter show. Stay tuned ❄️ 🕯

Last year, I landed on the idea that maybe there are not too many ways to honor the dead or maybe it is landing on your most connected path which can change with time. We honored those we love on the other side on some level on: Boo’s Day, the Hunter’s Moon, Samhain and Dia De Los Mu***os all within a short few weeks. My loved ones are more rooted in Irish/Celtic heritage so Samhain felt right, the Moon always brings the unseen hand of love but especially in October, the tradition of Dia De Los Mu***os is beautiful (plus we love our “science fair ofrenda”) and alas Boo’s Day is Boo’s Day. Regardless of how you observe, I hope the presence from beyond surrounds you with love

Studio Flaw Alert. To say I was a little exhausted last summer is an understatement. I am going to be offering up several discounted pieces this week, as I prepare for my annual winter show at Elevation. “Be in love with your life.” got a bit flipped in my brain. This piece would normally be $425, I am offering this mix up for $150. DM for more information.

Yeah, skateboarding! These kids are not only buddies but amazing champions of each other. A win for one is a win for all and that is a pretty beautiful thing to see as a parent.

This is the “Goofy Grabbers” (most) of the Salida Skateschool (Coached by Ethan). It’s hard to put into words but this crew’s support of one another gives me hope for humanity.

Thanks Monarch Skate Jam, Derrick Scott, the City of Salida and Parks & Rec for giving these Goofy Grabbers a platform for stoke.

“Welcome, Please be responsible for the energy you bring into this home.”

We hung this painting on our porch over the weekend. I spend a lot of time working on, not only, the energy I invest in but what I allow into our home lately. This is not easy and can even feel a little isolating at times. I stood on the front porch whispering “tree karma, tree karma, tree karma” this morning, after being alarmed by our middle-aged, male, neighbor yelling at our sweet but yappy corgi. (Stooge, who was on our private property and behind our fence. ) Suddenly the beauty of the day was shrouded in needless negativity. Then, I turned around to find this hanging reminder and it hit me hard. I NEED to leave that energy porch right. We got time for nothing but milestones & sunshine around here today.

Our social media moniker “The Dirtbag Bon Vivant '' is a bit of a love letter to a life born between two very different spirits. 2 unlikely souls forming a life that feels like minutes and at times eternity. Sixteen years ago a raft guide living in his 80s era GTI (with only a driver’s seat as to fit a playboat in the passenger seat) met a southern-social-merrymaker and the rest is history. Our lives have melded together in strange and beautiful ways, taking on parts of each other. At some point these defining elements felt like one. It took years to realize this shape but in the end we have blended 2 worlds to create one really fun life. A life lived in second generation-Bon Vivant and Arkansas Valley dirtbag fashion. Today we celebrate 12 years of marriage and in true Dirtbag Bon Vivant style we’re going to see Son Volt in a basement bar (this show was rescheduled because of COVID last spring and just happens to be rescheduled on our anniversary). So with Bon Vivant flare I say happy anniversary to my favorite dirtbag, “no one mystifies* me like you do”.

*I mean….the beer puppeteer was just last month😉❤️

Our 1st Carbondale Mountain Fair was a decade ago! We were just a couple of kidless bar-stars, look at us now. We are booth 74 at what we consider the best of the best small mountain town festivals (don’t tell FIBArk 😉). Happy Fair, come celebrate some “New Moon Magic” with us this year.

I have written a contract, been on a bike ride, cooked breakfast AND finished a painting all by 9:00AM. I used to paint the term “hustle hard girl” a lot but now I am not too into that rhetoric. The idea of working really hard at the expense of mental and physical health to play really hard feels kinda gross. I want to do things that make me feel good all the time, that make my energy shine, I want to be met with the energy I’m giving. Balance is key. Balance is also a real struggle for me but right now at 9:00 AM with some checks off the list I feel peacefully even and a little luminous too.
This purple lotus is the symbol of “rebirth and resurrection”, she’ll be headed to Carbondale Mountain Fair in one week.

Eight years ago on a beautiful April Fool’s Day, Sutton Nels Stephens landed on earth a full 3 weeks early. I can remember looking down at this face that was so foreign to me and thinking “who are you?” I obviously felt extreme love but what I remember now is complete wonder. If I had only known then what I know now. He is brilliantly who he is….a completely singular (maybe) human that strives to be nothing more and nothing less than Sutty. His presence is otherworldly, beautiful, hilarious, unique, joyful and about as naturally cool as one can get. Every year I am astonished by his furthered discovery of being, his evolution that somehow stays exactly true to who he seems to be. This past year was a big one for Sutty. That tiny distant star seems to keep growing into a giant sun and I am constantly dazzled by his light. Happy Birthday our: beautiful boy, sultan of swagger, titan of taste, intergalactic gallant, in-house rockstar, baby dirtbag, river king, mountain bike riding-shirtless skiing boy, smallest/raddest of skateboarders and EMPEROR OF ABSOLUTE JOY.
