Well, it's been an extremely crazy but educational week. Last Monday Smoky somehow pinched a nerve in his neck and ended up losing motor control of his hind end which led us to believe that this was going to be a life threatening issue. Well, thanks to the quick thinking and expertise of Dr. Zauel & administering drugs along with complete stall rest, I am so happy to say that Smoky is still with us and able to be turned out in the arena for quiet time..HA!!! Smoky has NO intention of quiet in his vocabulary. He has progressed all week long to finally rolling, trotting and being able to move forward & straight!!! There is some residual crookedness that hopefully will resolve with time, but for now, things are looking very good for our very special guy. To say that I had a tear when I saw him go down to roll and then jump up and trot off would be an understatement as to what my heart was saying. I am so happy to have been able to be helpful in his recovery along with Lillian Ruiz & his barn family....

It was such a nice day on the farm. Chores got done in a timely manner and had time to lunge the horses before lessons. Dylan was amazing in teaching my Junior rider to focus otherwise he definitely would take advantage of her...lol Micky's sore foot is healing well after his crazy romp through the corn fields and Smoky had a good checkup with the vet yesterday with the comment to keep up doing exactly what he needs. I thank everyday for the opportunity to be with these amazing horses. They aren't the fanciest horses around but they have been such amazing teachers and I can't imagine my life without them. I can only hope that they realize what they mean to me and my students over the years....

The Will Davis "clinic" was so much fun! Thank you Will and I'm looking forward to our next ride on 9/15!
Today, Smoky, the wonder horse had 2 major muscle spasms which were very painful for him, during Eva's lesson. Even though it scared her, she learned a new way to help her horse through a challenge. Her comment was " I was so alarmed, but I knew you would tell me to breathe" and that's exactly what she did! Good job Eva!

wow! had such a successful lesson morning! Students are really coming along well and so willing to advance their partnership with their horses.. Of course, Smoky was amazing in his own right as teacher to Eva! very exciting!
