Following Ed Russ’ passing in August, a few of our staff members came together seeking to permanently honor him at the Henry S. Parker Athletic Complex.

Ed was an integral part of our department since the 1980s, best known for his work at the Complex and the Wicomico Civic Center.

The committee’s goals are to: Rename Field 1 the Ed Russ Memorial Field; install a memorial plaque at the heart of the complex; and give Scenic Drive the honorary name of Ed Russ Way.

Fundraising has just begun, with the goal of having these items in place for the spring season. If you wish to contribute, checks can be made to Wicomico County Friends of Recreation and Parks and mailed to 500 Glen Ave., Salisbury, MD 21804.

We are excited to break ground on a long-awaited $9.8 million renovation later this month. 💪

Plans include an expanded box office and lobby, safety barriers, improved wayfinding, improved ADA access, an expanded food court and better connectivity between the Civic Center and the WiHi campus.

The venue will remain fully operational throughout the renovation process.
