Wednesday Announcement:
Two potentially upsetting things and one good thing. This post is all about transparency between the game runners and the members. Warning: It is LONG and there are comments to expand upon some things.
As many of you know, Utah LARP changed ownership last year. The new owner is excited to continue the traditions of the old owners, but has different limitations than the previous ones. Running this business cost the owner nearly $500 last year, outside of time and energy costs. So, especially with the costs of campsites going up, the cost of attendance for Rexerit, Utah LARP's long running game is going to have to increase. The cost of running a LARP can be exponential, and I will comment below some more on this, but you can expect the price of a weekend game to go up by about $20.
Upsetting thing number two. Running this game is a joy, but it can be emotionally and physically taxing on staff, to the point of dreading the upcoming games instead of being excited about them. As a result, Utah LARP has decided to decrease the overall amount of games this year. We simply cannot, with the small amount of staff we currently have, run every month. As of right now, we expect to run anywhere between 2-4 games of Rexerit in 2020 and 1-2 games of Venom and Vengeance. Dates coming soon. The main difference is that these games will be full weekenders, with events planned well into Sunday afternoon. So, you will be getting a little more bang with each game.
Good thing! NPCing a full game is now totally free. NPCs don't have to pay membership costs at all, simply sign our waiver and show up. We hope this allows some people who were scared to attend to come, and allows you to bring your more hesitant friends along without actually having to drag them.
If you have any questions, feel free to send us a message here. We know that change is hard, and thank you all for sticking with us during this time.
