Utah artist Eric Thompson finds inspiration close to home

Despite having no formal training, Eric Thompson's artwork has found a place in museums across the country. This self-taught painter, now living in Fairview, Utah, has garnered recognition in publications like American Art Collector and Southwest Art, even achieving finalist status at the prestigious 13th International ARC Salon.

Thompson honed his skills by studying the works of the great masters. He's particularly adept at oil painting, the demanding art of watercolor, and the challenging technique of egg tempera, a historical medium rarely used today.

Thompson's approach to art is fueled by a deep-seated belief system and a love for life's journeys. He embraces a learn-by-doing philosophy, opting for independent exploration rather than traditional art school.

His creative haven is a backyard studio. Here, surrounded by his wife Hilary (his muse and business manager), their daughters, a flock of chickens, and their loyal French bulldog, Thompson brings his artistic vision to life.
