Welcome to the Legacy Films Blog! We are so excited you've stopped by to see us! If you've made it this far into our website, you must have some interest in weddings, videography, or just in what we're doing so let's get to it!
Let's start with an easy one...who are we? I'm Emily and along with my husband Chris, we are Legacy Films. We love to laugh and joke around. We love to travel and see new places but we also love just hanging out at home. We also love wedding cake. (Don't judge...and don't be surprised if we try yours!) ;) I tend to write exactly how I talk and I use a ton of emojis, so just prepare yourself for that now. ;)
We grew up just a few miles away from each other in a tiny little part of Southwestern Pennsylvania. We met in high school (in the marching band!) and once he finished nursing school and I finished respiratory school, we got married. Weddings were sort of a different thing back then. It seemed like everyone had a traditional ceremony and then a dinner/dancing reception at some sort of fire hall or banquet hall. The bridesmaids wore matching dresses and the groomsmen wore rented tuxedos. The cakes were huge, multi-story creations with towers, fountains and lights that required their own tables. Our cake will always be one of my favorite things about our wedding! Just look at it...isn't she a beaut?! It was delicious too!
Ok..next..What is Legacy Films? Pretty much what it sounds like. We are a wedding and event videography service. We film weddings and special events to help you leave your legacy. Chris and myself are the videographers. We may have occasional help, depending on the needs of the event. We also do all the editing- we choose the music and the video clips to make the most spectacular wedding film for you!
And...why wedding films?? When we got married, we did not really focus on photography or videography. This makes us sad now. Our wedding photos are on real film! WHAT?? Can you even believe that? It wasn't THAT long ago, but it's true! It was in 2006...just the beginning of the digital era though. I remember, I had just joined Facebook a few weeks before we got married and I was still using a flip phone. I think it was pink!! SO back then, we were young and lived just for the current moment in the current day. We never gave much thought to leaving our legacy and having beautiful wedding memories to look back on. We didn’t realize back then how important it would be to remember the day. You plan it for all those months and then before you can even blink, it’s over, and all you've got is a box of photos six months later.
We want you to have what we don't have...a beautiful wedding video.
Actually, we do have a wedding video. It's far from beautiful though. At the last minute, we asked one of our wedding guests to record our ceremony with our video camera. Would you believe we let that Hi-8 tape sit for almost 11 years before we watched it? We only got it out a few months ago as Legacy Films was coming to life.
You may ask HOW then? How did we arrive at this business? It kind of came to fruition while just hanging out and talking with family members. If any of you know my husband, you know how much he researches things before he makes a decision about anything. He quickly began his "recon work" on the wedding video industry and came to me with a YouTube link saying "dear, you HAVE to watch this." It was this amazing wedding film…we didn’t know these people or anything, but it was so good! The music, and their happiness…the way it made you feel. It was a wonderful video of their wedding day. It instantly made me sad that we didn’t have anything like that. Right then I knew- we could do this! We had to do this!
A little more background on this...because you may be thinking "wait...they just up and decided to make wedding films?!" Well sort of! Chris has been working on video projects for years. It started out as a just for fun type of thing when he was younger. In high school and nursing school he and his friends would submit a video anytime they had a project due, which the teachers loved! Fast forward a little bit and Chris has found himself working on special media projects quite often with his "real job" in the medical field. His expertise and vast understanding of technology is the pillar of this company. I am the "second shooter" and fill in wherever needed, paying special attention to things like this blog and social media. Together we make a great team and we cannot wait to show you what we've been working on!
