good morning, and welcome to the people's kitchen... pardon the logo, as it is temporary... aesthetics aside, i want to let you know just a bit about me, and what i see through this new adventure...

i have been in the restaurant industry for almost 30 years, with 20 of the those in the kitchen as a cook/chef... i have worked with and learned from some of the best cooks, chefs, bakers dishwashers in the industry and across the country...

i am also a chef in long term recovery... my addiction, and the decisions that stemmed from it, put me in a position where i had nowhere to go... it was, and is, through the grace, compassion, and love of the recovery community in San Antonio that i was given a second chance, not only at life, but at the world i have loved for most of my adult life...

the people's kitchen is a culmination of all of those experiences, successes and failures in my life, personal and professional... a career i never thought possible to me in sobriety has become a true love affair, and a way that i can give back to my entire community, nurturing not only the body, but the mind and spirit as well...

this began as a catering project between me and one of my best friends and compadres, miles jones (all credit for the name goes to him)... we wanted to bring our food into homes, telling our transplant stories through the food we love so much, while bringing our San Antonio into the mix...

then, in September of this year, my dear friend, Casey Folse, presented me with an opportunity to bring this vision to an actual brick and mortar establishment, and work directly with the recovery community, as well as chef's, food educators, advocates and while feeding and educating my adopted city through food... we have been met with setbacks, but are working tirelessly to make this a reality... and, once we are out of the gates, we will be joined on this journey not only by Miles, but by SA's own Victoria Paz, two of the best chefs and people i have the honor and privilege to have as colleagues and friends... this will be a celebration of love, not only for food, but for each other, our communities, our pasts and presents...

so, in the meantime, i will be bringing you the food that has nurtured and inspired me, through bi-monthly food sales, occasional daily specials, and in any other way i can - small event catering, meal prep - if i can help take the burden off your shoulders, i'll be there...

the response over these past weeks has been outstanding, and i am eternally grateful to you all... this is very much a work in progress, and i promise to learn and improve as i move forward... i invite y'all to come on this adventure with me, maybe try something new, and allow a bit of my world into yours...

i love y'all, and hope you have a wonderful day...
